I created a 27 by 27 circular building with polished marble, and my """fixes""" were using non-chiesled default marble blocks for the edge corners. Without that, the very blue edges are genuinely noticeable from a 50-100 block distance. Ick.

What use does expanded foods even have without the xcrack skill for more hunger. I've been using levelup instead of xcrack recently and it feels pointless to try and cook something even slightly complicated because it will just go way over the hunger cap.

My biggest gripe with vanilla rn is the fact I can't copy chiselled blocks. Just making a fancy wall takes ages because of it. I also hope they add proper stoves in the future, it's kinda weird we do everything with a fireplace and torch.

Funnily enough just to put up the outer layer of the docks I used probably at least 3 times as much stone as I pulled out of that quarry, just granite instead of limestone/slate. I agree it does look at bit weird at first, I'm also not done detailing it, I plan to add a like management building for the quarry and some nearby tents or shacks for workers. I just try to jump around so I don't burn out. As for the shape itself, apparently limestone quarries are weirdly angular like that so it kinda works out.

Thanks. I'm mostly just trying to build stuff that looks cool and is mildly realistic, at least insofar as being internally consistent. Quarry near where you actually need the stone, castle on the high ground, etc. Speaking of castle I'm actually thinking about making a second bigger castle.

I have a loose plan of how I want things to develop, the specifics are TBD. But overall based on this (plans) is for the second castle to go on the red area overlooking the harbor entrance. I want the blue area to be a high density area like the stereotypical ideal of a medieval fantasy town. I want to reshape the terrain in the green area behind the docks to build it up into cliffs. I'm considering repurposing the existing orange area into some kind of industrial/commercial district. And then ultimately building an actual stone curtain wall around the yellow line.

I imagine if tyrone adds fishing he will take it very literally and try to add actual fish in. then there will be 1k fish entities loaded at all time raping the server and when you cast a line it loops over every loaded fish on the server 30 times/second to see if it's allowed to bite the hook even though you can't see 2 feet below the water with the new water shader so it doesn't matter.

Was supposed to be a little tower but I've been busy lately and only play on the modded server. Sadly it's too small to put in stairs or shieeeeet. So I guess it's going to be a shitty decorative tower.

travelled a fuckton to get to the first Story Quest, and a couple chunks away I found this awesome villa-like ruin: there's a temple on top, a few locust/drifters spawns but I took care of them

i never considered having multiple bases on the map, but as soon as i saw it i knew i wanted to make it my base, it has a lot of potential and going from -3°c to 18°c in november on this map is cool
also, it has a river nearby that leads to the ocean, so i might even consider a (long and boring to be honest) sea voyage, if the boats were decent

Just making some adjustments to the mods and backing up the server really quick.

It was born as a mod for Minecraft, but honestly the comparisons end there, even just aesthetically Vintage Story is better
you can see it as a pure survival sandbox, with complex realistic techniques of crafting / hunting / metalworking etc
a large part of the gameplay loop is based on mechanics that in other games I would hate because too grindy, but that here give an immense sense of achievement: if you like the idea, you will have a lot of fun
the game also has aspects of lore linked to a sort of "cosmic horror", if you like: otherwise you can completely deactivate every aspect of lore
in fact, the game is highly customizable to have the experience you want, and if you consider the addition of some mods for new mechanics and QoL, you will easily have a game where you can invest 50+ hours
