its so fucking hard to aim the pass/lob on controller. try to angle it even slightly and it'll aim it directly to the side.

It's crazy that they released without crossplay when this would've been a huge asset for the game with groups of friends, not to mention PC game pass users are matched with Xbox. I bet their publisher pushed hard for a release asap.

Also I really don't get how the dive works, sometimes you get magic hands that vacuum the ball in a 3km radius and others if you're not pixel perfect you can go fuck yourself. Also for some reason the sidestep (A) seems to cancel your defensive capabilities, maybe the devs REALLY want you to dive but I'm paranoïd that it will play the wrong animation and end up getting cucked out of an easy catch.

its probably this more than anything. i mean in fifa, you have this wide view of the field then you press A and the ball automatically magnetises to the player. sure there are options to manually control runs and all that but all the more casual players dont use those options. so coming to a game where you have a limited view of the field, need more situational awareness and needing to make those runs yourself is such a steep learning curve.

It's really inconsistent, sometimes you're catching a ball really far away and others it goes very close to your model without catching it. It doesn't help that some players are condemned to play GKs most of the time because they're loading first (my case), on top of the hitbox problems there's getting screwed over by the wrong animation playing or teammates blaming you at the first mistake (but them, they're too good for the role so they'll leave the goal post empty). My favourite though is definitely:

It can add complexity to the game but on the other hand it kills readability and you can't read the models' "body language" to act appropriately, it becomes mostly reaction time. It's not a problem in RL because there is only a single mechanic, hitting the ball. How you hit it determines your mechanical skill, and the ball trajectory is always predictable except for corners.

I do not know what they did in the latest update, but the ball lag has gotten worse. So many times I tackled a ball from an attacker, chased after the ball I have knocked away, only for the ball to teleport and notice that the attacker still has the ball somehow.

Well, looks like I'm hardstuck Master 3/2, had a good run. Maybe it will be like Rocket League and the first seasons' ranks are somewhat worthless, like a RL S1 Grand Champion.
Ever since the patch my performance on the game is better but the problem of teleporting balls is the worst it's been, especially during big fights the game shits itself determining who got the ball in the end and it clips from players' feet and through the ground before sticking to the guy who got the interception.

When playing defense, you do not half to take the ball from them. The best defense is stopping them from ever getting into a shooting position to begin with.
Defensive stance is your friend. It is very strong. Being in defense stance when an opponent shoots the ball in front of you will cause you to automatically block it if you are in the path. It is also best not to try to tackle the ball a lot, because every sweaty ball flipper is betting on you doing that. Wait for them to try to rainbow flick and then take the ball from them. It will also cause you to 'hold' defenders and slow them down. You can use this hold to stop blade shots, because you will slow down the ball carrier enough to where they will not be able to get to the ball in time.
As far as getting priority on air balls/balls off the wall, the priority system is fucked and nobody knows. I have heard that lob light tap has the highest priority over everything (using extra effort also gives you higher priority), and I have had success in using that over heading the ball away. Plus, it usually lets you field the header right after.
Basically, use defensive stance and stand between the ball carrier and the goal. If the ball is in the air, use lob light tap. If they are rainbow flicking to set up a blade shot, use defensive stance to hold them to prevent it. Never let the defender get behind you is the best thing to do in the first place.
Also the dive is inconsistent and you should only use it as a last resort, or if you are trying to get up/down field (diving while running is faster than sprinting without stamina).
