Only issues are looking for any help on here (most are shit or don´t play) and if you play solo you won´t learn shit. Is Soyuz hands down the worst ship in the entire game? After trying to grind through it in both randoms and operations, I am convinced that playing this ship is grounds for a ban
You should legitimately be able to report people who play this ship for intentionally griefing you and they should get banned for it
The ship has fucking atrocious armor, burns like it's coated in kerosene, has a citadel the size of the moon as if the survivability already isn't bad, it has one of the worst turning radii in the entire game and is slow as fuck on top of that, and then you finally get to the guns which simply don't work. Even at 10km, the dispersion is INSANELY bad. I cannot think of a single battleship in the game with worse dispersion than Soyuz. Even at 8-10km the guns are literally unusable, you're lucky to land 5 shells in a 9 shell salvo
The average salvo is 2 overpens, 1 pen, and maybe one ricochet to really rub it in. And that's at 8km of range. And then your AP does nothing. It has anemic fucking damage on 9 shotgun barrels and on top of all that it has a horrendous 33s base reload.
This ship is a floating EXP pinata meant to be farmed by the enemy team and is completely fucking defenseless. You can give this PoS flat broadside at 10km and it won't punish you.

I hated playing N. Cal and Iowa, and sort of think Montana is okay, but my expected damage per volley on a well-aimed Iowa salvo against a good target is 10-12k vs the 6k you get from a similar salvo in the Soyuz

The problem with CVs has never been the control/view type, it was the fucked scaling. In RTS times, tier IV-V CVs were not amazing, but did enough shit to matter in a game. TX CVs were overpowered.
In 3rd person mode they essentially doubled down on that scaling and T4 CVs are fucking useless and can be completely ignored while TX are even more overpowered.

Sometimes your CV drops a fighter for you and you don't get struck, but under the RTS system the more skilled CV would strafe and delete entire squadrons and deplane the other CV and then you had a worthless floating turd on your team that was powerless to do anything while the other CV picked you to pieces with cross drops

I don't agree that T10 CVs are more powerful than they used to be. That aside what makes CVs broken isn't their raw power, it's that they get to choose where and when to apply damage. Even if carriers were abysmal shit at dealing damage, as long as they get to choose where and when to apply it at will, they will always be the class with the most game impact.

Most of the US cruisers are good. Cleveland is good, even the rental if you're not a retard. Helena is usable for grinding if you're not at Cleveland in the tech tree.
Atlanta/Flint are not bad with all the DDs and low tier cruisers, can use San Diego too if you have it.
Baltimore, and any of the derivatives, are excellent. I've been using Rochester although imo the smoke isn't worth it, I just don't want to spend the credits rebuying Balti and wasting capt exp to put a captain on it lol. The DPM on Rochester/Baltimore might seem mediocre on paper but the SHS absolutely rape the AI cruisers if you're good at the game, I'm talking 3x citadel salvos and they just vanish. Congress is probably fine but I would stick to Baltimore/Rochester
BB wise - really only Massa. You can probably use Constellation and maybe Alabama as well, but the slow standard BBs are not great since you want to be flexible. If you have Massa, stick to it imo.
DD-wise, Kidd and the new Osborne if you paid out for it are both good options

But honestly, if you're not a totally garbage player, you can get away with some suboptimal picks in this operation since the DPS/survivability checks are really generous. The hard part of this operation is getting pubbie teams to do objectives properly. On that note, CVs (Hornet in particular) are actually not that bad of an option - you can strike the stationary DD targets for free once they're spotted by radar or whatever, you have plenty of stuff with no AA whatsoever to strike, and by sitting relatively far back you avoid getting illuminated by flares which makes it harder for your team to fail that objective.

Actually insane ship, it was legit broken and I have like a 60%+ WR with Unicum PR in it. You also have pretty good torps too, but you only have one rack of them so you're not a real hybrid. But they do work when you need them.
But ultimately Cossack is a very demanding DD that requires a solid knowledge of positioning, when to be aggressive, when to go defensive, how to duel other DDs, etc. The skill floor isn't too bad (since it has good conceal and short burst smokes) but the skill ceiling is huge.
Anyways even with the newer DDs in the game I'd probably recommend Cossack > Atago
The only real weakness Cossack has is that the shell arcs aren't great so if you engage a Soviet/French DD and they open the gap you're struggling but you can just short burst and disengage, you have so many tools.

Nah I think Cossack is unique enough and the British DD line is still solid enough from what I can tell so it's worthwhile to have a British DD prem (if you just want a premium then there are plenty of T8 cruisers way better than Atago)
Kidd is sort of hit and run where you try to outlast using your heal and good DPM, whereas Cossack is ambushing people with your insane conceal, hitting them hard and fast, and pressing home the advantage (or disengaging with your smoke and then ambushing them again later)
Kidd doesn't have a hydro, so you have to watch out for torps in close range knife fights and play more passively. You also have the very good but very long cooldown USN smoke, so you can't use it on demand to break vision. I would say there are SOME similarities between Kidd and Cossack, but Cossack is a much more aggressive ship that isn't as forgiving (lack of a heal) but also much more dangerous.

I've been playing Hampshire in ops and this AP is amazing. Are there any other brit cruisers with these guns/shells that ideally have a heal or smoke? Looking around I heard people saying Gibraltar and Plymouth have them but I don't know if they do. Surrey has the same guns but I'm not sure if the shells are as good.

probably best dd to exterminate other dds but you need skill to set up such a fight by yourself without getting outspotted.
They giga buffed both smoke and speed boost cooldowns so you can play as a generic mid range gunboat or disengage from a failed ambush setup very easily.
Other mid-long range gunboats are still better in that role so you should still look for dd engagements, but if you're not skilled enough to create them, the buffs give you the chance to constantly farm some damage without thinking

Honestly rather than buying a ship just for the credit multiplier, what playstyle do you actually enjoy? Coal ships should be enjoyable, and I would rather grind credits in a ship I actually have fun playing (I usually spam Asashio because I'm an asshole) than the most "optimal" one. I could be wrong on this but I also assume you'll make more dosh for playing well in a ship with a mediocre multiplier than poorly in a ship with a good one
As a DD main I'd probably recommend Groningen (or Jager if you're a dickhead like me)
Looking at Flamuu's opinion he's rated the Agir/Pommern/Marco Polo as all solid B-tier ships (which was where I was hovering too but I haven't played any of them) so those are options too if any of their playstyles look appealing

It's comfy, italian smoke plus all turrets being able to turn 360 means it can switch from pushing to kiting mid range position instantly in a safe way and without losing any dpm uptime, I played a few games and they were all high damage because of this.
Turrets turn very slowly, but again 360 turning kinda solves that problem.
Torps are F3 only but they got okay forward firing angles, the chance to make a play with them exists at least.
Concealment is good, you can get into good enough positions to smoke and kite.

Alaska is in my opinion the most consistent tier 9 premium, it comes back every black friday and it's really hard to die having done nothing in Alaska. Kronshtadt if it ever comes back is good too, as well as Kearsarge. Azuma can probably get you more damage a game than Alaska, you will just lose more and it'll bore you to tears.

Laffey's gimmicks are as follows;
Superheal (this is the big one, 30% superheal with 2 charges base)
New USN smokes that let you choose your duration
Burst fire mode (3 salvos > 18s reload)
They also added the Burrows line which has the following gimmicks;
USN Choose-your-duration smoke (but a lot longer duration than what Laffey gets)
SAP instead of AP
Good shell ballistics on 137mm guns (way better than USN 127s on Fletcher/Gearing)

All of the new USN DDs are gunboats - Laffey is more aggressive with less smoke but a superheal to let you really get stuck in, with the ability to burst and then use a short duration smoke to disengage and heal. Burrows line feels more like take the engagement, do some good SAP damage, disengage with smoke and reset the engagement right away (ideally as soon as you force the enemy DD to burn their smoke) and then re-engage them aggressively because you can disengage at will with your very fast CD smoke and they can't unless they're British (and even then, I think Burrows can smoke and disengage more frequently than Daring can)
Once the enemy DD fires at you with their smoke down and your cruiser is keeping them lit it's GG, especially with the comfortable 137 ballistics that'll let you hammer them even when they're out at 8-9km trying to break vision

I like it so far. It's not a damage farming gunboat and it badly lacks stopping power; the torpedo reload is long, they're short range, and the smoke doesn't last long enough to anchor you in a position. It has demented survivability though. Beyond the superheal, it's smaller than Gearing, slightly more maneuverable, you always have smoke to disengage, and you have a burst fire to make your engagements shorter. I think it'll be strong in randoms where nearly every game these days has 4 or 5 DDs per team, and you often have to fight multiple over the course of a game.

It's not really comparable to Laffey. They both have bursts and that's where the similarity ends. Laffey is highly specialized into survivability. Alvaro is an already decent, generalist gunboat with good torps, good ballistics, high alpha damage, normal smokes, that also gets a burst mode (which is way better than Laffey's on account of the reload, alpha, and dispersion buff) which makes it diabolical because you always win the DD fight and get to do your damage farming.
