zone in and it is night and you can't see more than 3 feet in front of you even after you turn on your candle and people in chat are complaining it isn't dark enough
town is giant and nearly completely empty and lifeless with no soul
find my guild gm not too bad, he wants me to delivery things to people, teleports me to one guy
next guy is supposed to be near the waterside in a warehouse
no signs point the direction to the harbour so wander aimlessly
find a teleporter that goes there miraculously
run around looking at every random empty building I can find at the waterside and can't find an the npc or anything that looks like a warehouse
even the buildings that have a bunch of crates/barrels outside of them or have cranes to offload ships
being near the waterside makes the game run at 2 fps even though the graphics are from 2000
this shit is terrible and should have died with brad
i actually got to hang out and talk with him at the end of p3 beta and he was cool

EQ's largest cities are like 6x smaller than this city and are much easier to navigate as a newfag. The guards will tell you that soandso is north, but you have no sense heading skill and due to the buildings you sometimes can't even see the sun to figure out which direction you're facing (plus it could be noon with the sun directly overhead or 10 am/2 pm which look indistinguishable)
Basically what I'm saying is that the level design is much worse than EQ.

I gave this a try as someone who has only played World of Warcraft and a bit of other modern MMOs and the first impact was pretty brutal.
I liked some parts of it like the slower pace and the quests but man I really feel like I spent the whole test trying to understand what the fuck I was supposed to be doing.
