Assorted notes:
You can get a Material Tank to store many types of material. Go north of Suginami and talk to DB Harumi about deconstructing.
If your demon becomes a higher level than you, you won't be able to summon it again until you meet its level. You can avoid this by not unsummoning it.
After charging a ranged attack, the target icon will turn green if you're in range and red if you are not.

Up to lvl 79, it's very easy to lower your expertise classes and ranks, so don't worry to much about bricking your character.

Some possibly useful tips from my time playing so far:
You can exchange Yaigya Reports for MF (premium currency, was called CP in vanilla) at the Yaigya in the Cathedral of Darkness. It's a 10:1 ratio so it's probably not a good investment early on.
For fashion enjoyers, virtual appearance tickets are 1 MP (or 6 for 5MP) in the COMP shop. You need one ticket per item you want to add to your virtual appearance closet.

I recommend to grab an Ariadne's Thread and an Orb of Speed from rentals whenever you can. A COMP Expansion Card is also nice for the autoloot function.

You will end up liking it if you like SMT. Otherwise it's a bit difficult to understand some systems right off the bat and I'm sure there's still bits of the game untranslated. You can still try it out without bothering about the complicated shit right off the bat, but what's important is that every new player should do the MATERIAL TANK quest and that's not debatable.

I might join in soon myself and make a new character, played a STR chad about a year ago and it was fun, though I don't exactly vibe with the 'only two weeks' initiative.
I recommend checking what loot drops where, NM also likes to change some things and make previous P2W (from when the game was still alive and official) items drop in dungeons, which you can then mix, match or fuse. There's whole ass docs about it and the OP probably has some, if not then the New moon discord

Probably either flavor of gunner, I know they added some but you got Rapid which is high single target damage and Magic Bullet which i think is elemental? maybe AOE? Basically guns. Melee could work too but you have a higher risk of hitting a repel and killing yourself with your giganigger attack, and also obviously you need to be in melee range which could be scary.

Remember about Pursuit and Limit Break being important stats that just print out free damage, I believe Pursuit has an expertise tree and LB is an item/endgame thing

This is me speaking with experience from a year ago from when I tried both gun and melee builds, re-installing right now to try a magic build myself.

For guns theres also 3 types of damage and demons might be resistant to some of them so if you're going that route you might want to keep a few guns handy to hot-swap them, like a shotgun for something but a pistol/rifle for whatever else.

Magic Bullet is easy to build and play and it's one of the safest too. With any other build you will constantly get gangbanged until you learn how to play.

one thing to note is that the 'rapid' gun tree is generally pretty short ranged and the 'shot' gun tree is the one where you can actually pew pew from afar.
with some of the 'rapid' skills you have to practically stick the barrel down a mobs throat.

Nice to see an IMAGINE thread on /vm/. I've been playing New Moon on and off in the last year. The custom expertise they created are pretty funny. Have yet to try ashes and dust but berserker is great imo. Would be great if they could add more sheathed 2H sword models tho. Everything I've seen so far is katanas.

The game gets less fun, in my opinion, after Chapter 16. Eventually, you would need to engage with the game's true grindy features or get filtered out of endgame.

What does the Pursuit expertise do? The wiki speaks in riddles.

Pursuit is basically damage on top of your damage that has a chance to proc. It pops as a red number next to your normal damage and can get up to 100% of your normal damage. On New Moon the expertise also gives some bonuses to Limit Break power, which is just like a Final Fantasy game, a way to break over the normal damage limit. There's also Technical Attacks that work like Pursuit.

OOPTHS can be traded for MF, gems are useful as either money or for trading, melons I would keep too for some recipes and demon friendship, boxes and cards you should be able to store once you get the material tank, and fighting spirits are also a currency you can store in the tank. In fact most of the stuff I listed should be storable in the material tank.

Years ago when I played I was a melee type with my inventory full of weapons of various elements for slash/thrust/bludgeoning types, so this time I'm going with a magic build. I'm doing the level grind to 25 for continuing the story for now, and am enjoying the game about as much as I had been back when I was playing in the US beta and after on the official server so I may keep playing for quite a while at this rate.

Just as a heads up, you can very easily supersample the game's resolution with dgVoodoo. Iirc I had to force either texture filtering or mipmapping to their current settings due to one of them blurring players and npc names but that's about it.

Thanks to last night nakano gold runs, I've been able to make some sick ass SI'd gear. The cosmopolitan+ in particular is a huge boost to damage, since I only use attacks and spins.
