Welcome to

Mabinogi is a fun, once popular little old school korean MMO from 2004 based around Celtic mythology with many different features. Your character can age, rebirth, eat food and gain weight, play and custom make music, and so much more. You can be anything and do anything all at once with no downsides. From non-combat related skills like cooking, tailoring, blacksmithing, trading goods in a commerce, carpentry, etc. to different styles of combat like melee, magic, ninja, archery, puppetry, etc. all on 1 character.

Although graphics and gameplay is still a bit dated, even after 17 years the game is still rich in content such as fashion contests, cooking contest, jousting, playing in or viewing large concerts, training pets, and so on and continues to be Nexon's most generous game.

I don't think a new race could invalidate all those accessories because they're all kemonomimi stuff and thus perpetually in a state of half-assery completely separate from a full beast-race's appeal
It could work but apart from all the work that would go into them having to rig all the armors for a new skeleton and making a whole new region or area for them so it doesn't feel like they were pulled out of thin air, they'd also have to settle on a body type because I doubt they'd have as many animal options as elves get ear shapes, that's a lot of variance. They should all be rabbits though since those are the best. Foxes are also always safe because they're basically the middle-ground between cats and dogs which is all anyone cares about

Unfortunately you're pretty off about most of this, it was a combination of clueless dev team (C4 devs were given a mandate of making mabinogi easier to get into and more profitable, is what started the trend of reforges and special upgrades) and retarded dev team (C6/C7 director being a nepo baby hire who fucked up Mabinogi big time compared to older gens)

Would it have been nice if we had gotten gameplay evolving from olden days RPS? Sure but let's not pretend it was some holy grail of balance, take off those nostalgia goggles and remind yourself of all the stupid cheeses that passed for strategy back then. In earlier gens you opted into multiaggro by using mass aggro skills such as fireball, and if you didn't do that the enemies didn't generally mob you, and instead it was single or double aggro depending on AI. Right now the mob aggro issue is so bad that if you don't proactively play around it then there is high potential for no win situations where you just die (or at least can't do anything until your Veil/Imp Armor/etc procs). I never said one skill set should be good at everything. Every talent needs clear downsides. The PLAYER should be able to come up with a solution to every problem they have. I mean arcanas resolve both of your concerns quite handily, they are powerful enough at baseline that unless you are participating in difficult content you can basically just ignore the intricacies of gameplay if you are sufficiently invested. Arcanas are also mandatory specializations so that you need a team.
I run into a ton of pugs that don't know how to debuff and play like clowns (in fact they're probably the majority of pugs) so lack of knowledge/experience is rather commonplace, as is not using all the tools. It also demonstrates despite being given a lot of progress on a silver platter, players still have a long way to go when it comes to understanding and properly playing the game.
As for the insane amount of time, see the other subsystem grinds, life skill grinds, gear-related grinds (erg!), etc. Needing to grind skills was fine when skills were the majority of the grind 15 years ago, but it's not like that anymore. You are off your meds and insane. I played mabbo 15 years ago and there are multiple reasons you wouldn't use a freaking wand to deal melee damage. Are you actually outing yourself for knowing nothing about the game? A basic gladius upgraded with a fairly standard path has 60+ max over the fire wand's 12 max. That is a difference of 50 max. Or if you prefer the broadsword has 70+ max. Yes you need decent balance to wield these but that's why everyone and their mom was recommended to do refine and weaving to get dex even for melee characters. Also these swords are 2hit weapons which means that they are friendlier to newbies as it only takes 2 hits to knock down a mob and give you time to recover.
Nobody is trying to tell you to go into Peaca solo, just as nobody is trying to tell you to go into Crom solo, but you always have that option. It is not suggested, but it is an option.

After C3 or so when AP started being slightly less scarce it was common for people to diversify into other talents, FOR THE STATS AT LEAST IF NOTHING ELSE. The only people who didn't were pure magefags (maybe alchemyfags too but alchemy was laughably clunky so that was a lot rarer, with the exception of pre-nerf golemancers) who also refused to learn another skillset even if for convenience (but you kind of needed to for missions like Their Method anyways). Actually, in early mabbo it was easier to get gear for other skill sets because there was not that much difference between upgraded shop gear (e.g. gladius, claymore) and dropped gear (e.g. war sword, glory sword). Plus, repair fees were always a consideration so you wouldn't even necessarily use your best gear all the time especially if it had some repair fee increasing enchant on it.
My human friend liked to run around with Goddess Caliburn Wooden Blades just to be cool (even though it was sort of a pointless exercise) back when they 10x the cost of repairs.

Here let me do the math for you: there are a lot of random pug tech groups where people have no idea how to play the game. But they can still easily clear because of arcanas.
15 techs x 250k gold each x 12 weeks = 45 mil RAW GOLD. 90 days COMBO VIP is market price ~20mil gold.
Even if you are a leech (and you don't have to be at all, again, thanks to arcanas), you can still get EES with no effort whatsoever. Unless you are a casual and refuse to engage with the content, in which case you can still play, again, because of arcanas.

All versione of linux basically run it the same. But running it through bottles through lutris creates a memory leak. Opening inventory, grtting chat messages, basically loading anything increases the ram usage and it never goes down. Arch does not fix this problem. Chan was using a system with 128gb and still had to restart after a few hours. There is no fix to store login data, just dont close the launcher.

I had automatic login before but it broke shit so I disabled it. It do be like that. At least nagle algorithm shit is not an issue on linux and you can set mtu to any value, unlike on windows 11 where its now limited to a pretty high value.
