I’ve always loved Chimecho since I saw it in the anime and used it when I was a kid. Not much to it really

I've liked Chimecho since the days of the anime. Was really disappointed James never went back for it or was shown even checking up on it.

No, but we did find out that it was present in older builds (its beta sprite was in the Nov 1 2001 build) earlier in the pokemon data with a nearly complete design, before being moved towards the end of the pokemon data by the final build.
Apparently we don't know if it was ever removed at some point but to me it sounds like GF decided to scrap Chimecho, later changed their mind last second, then hastily put it back in at the end of the pokemon data.

I feel that most of the people who like Chimecho to this day are those who got lucky and found it accidentally when they were kids.
Combined with the fact that there’s no trainer in R/S that uses one, it really made you feel like you discovered something really rare and special, even though it’s not very strong in battle.
I remember telling an old friend that I found a weird pokemon at Mt. Pyre and he flat out didn’t believe me. Chimecho was akin to the Regis back in the day.
