You can stop animations that way. 600 or less base-stat mon raids are much higher success rate than the 680+ legendaries.
So a run takes from 8-11min solo, took about 12 hours to get Raikou. This has been about the average time to see a shiny across everything I've seen.

If they have a ton of spread moves (Landorus, Kyogre, Kyurem, Groudon, Zygarde), they're the tough ones. The ones with the high stat total without the spread moves aren't nearly as hard to deal with (Lunala, Rayquaza, the gen 2 birds, etc.).

The typing and resistances makes a big difference, but keeping in mind that these mons at any time can just 1hko most of your team with max moves. There's a lot of luck involved, all you can do is get a decent to good den and hope the opponents don't use max moves/target down your weak allies.
You're right that the most difficult mons all require wide-guard.

About vgc and doubles play in general: there is a wide pool of pokemon that you can win with, many are actually more viable than one would believe.
However, the less meta/anti-meta mons you choose though, the more you are required to play perfectly. Imagine walking into a card game and it's all stacked against you. Your win conditions require a bit of luck and a lot of correct predictions.
I've been running Grimmsnarl for screen support, which is pretty basic, but with parting shot and spirit break. The way I see it he doesn't need fake out since you want screens turn 1.

The shiny future paradoxes look better and have a more cohesive themeing than the past shinies. Bare metal finish is a cool look, like the factory forgot the final step of manufacturing.

This was almost a very awkward game state as neither Giratina nor Ursaluna can hit each other. Giratina would have KO'd low-health Miradon with shadow sneak and I was guaranteed to win because Ursaluna lives its life on a burn timer.
Good thing Urshifu survived, saved a lot of time.

Shiny hunting again for the first time in a year thanks to switch 2 update not sucking ass. I forget, does opening and closing a picnic reroll spawns to help with shiny hunting?
Been shiny hunting last night and a bit today on Switch 2, much more enjoyable to play but feels a bit harder in some parts.
Isolating just a spawn is 100% dead unless you can get the entire area to be that via encounter. I liked trying to find certain spots that would give only the outbreak if you picnicked there, too bad.
Picnicking feels like the optimal way, but you sort of need to move around after you pack up.
Spawns seem to be optimizing spawning further away then filling in towards you, so moving around to try to get them to spawn in the areas you want. This is kind of similar to how it was in the base game although much more exaggerated due to the larger radius.
Also there seems to be a "safe zone" where even if a mon isn't visible, it has not been despawned yet. Maybe I'm just not seeing the 1% opacity model and thinking it was faded out, but it seems like the area where they're save in memory extends further than you vision by a little. Should stop accidentally losing a shiny because you saw it as you were moving away, but keep it in mind because holy fuck trying to despawn things in caves is annoying because you have to run so far away now. So far found 3 Roaring Moons, 1 Azumaril, 2 Iron Bundle (1 Peckish), 3 Iron Valiant shinies. Insallah we will get the cool marked shinies soon.

I have gotten a Falinks, Pangoro, and Electabuzz. Some of these runs are so scuffed from the beginning that it's impossible to win and there's also nothing you can do to prevent the turn 1 max move that KO's from full health. Everything about DA is luck.

Gallade is a pain in the ass, you have to breed for mean look, then you have to keep ralts unevolved until level 43 to learn Hypnosis, then you can evolve and it learns false swipe at 45. I guess I could do it...
