ORAS' EXP overdistribution, affection bonuses, and the ability to dexnav out pokemon with HAs and half perfect stat spreads to name a few. And I can already hear you crying that all that's optional. So sure, just don't engage with any of the game's mechanics and tediously switch train all your pokemon and then you might have fun in the casualized, censored, scaled back and watered down version of Hoenn.

Battle Frontier was the only fumble. Everything else went mostly fine. They give you Latios/Latias as an apology for that God awful special event E-card method way, way back in the early 2000's. And they also gave you Deoxys with having to go through another God awful event methods they had back in the early 2000's as well.

Some of the stones being locked behind those EV minigames was kind of annoying. New Mauville being locked until gym 8(?) sucked. I think Zinnia was kind of shit, the way the story sets that up just doesn’t work well contextually. And Fug needing to mega to break a rock was dumb even if going to space was cool.

So you have NPC trainer teams that are way inferior to Emerald, and they didn't even properly adjust their levels to take into account what the player would have, so you end up with a game that feels a lot like XY.
