When exactly did you realize that PLA was a bad game? For me, it was around 3:30am on release night or after 2 hours of playing.

Johtotoddlers are subconsiously realizing that their childhood games are becoming irrelevant, outdated trash like gen 1 currently is. They had a nice run and did bring a lot of QoL improvements that the community takes for grant it, but that was over two decades ago. No one cares anymore. The only real edge it has over over generations is that it has a two region gimmick. This was cool two decades ago but now as the community has matured, they realized how barebones both regions are along with other flaws. Newer players simply don't care how good it USED to be because they were 2 years old at that time. Sounds familiar? This is how /vp/ treats genwunner games (Oh well it was okay for it's time, but it's too glitchy and isn't modern enough to be a serious option to call the best of anything). This isn't about us. It's about Johtotoddlers needing to be honest to themselves. Say to themselves "Yes the overworld used to look cool and impressive compared to gen 1, but there's better out there. No muh soul is not an argument".
It's best not to clown them too hard though. You don't clown him for no getting rid of his old, busted and rusty car from 1950. He'll just lecture you to death about how much he used to drive in his car, how "they don't make them like they used to" and how ungrateful this newer kids are. You just accept that he's a coping old geezer who can't let go of the past. Defending and cherishing this car/game is incredibly important to him as this is his way of rebelling against the evils of modern society. So just just let him have his moments. Let him tell you stories about how fun his childhood game was. It'll make him stop screeching autistically and you can move on to doing more productive things with your time.

How does this end? The same way it ended for genwunner when they were going through this phase. The Johtotoddler will finally have to accept that his time has ended and move on. Maybe find a new hobby and do something more productive himself. Eventually he'll realize that his time is up. For the grandpa this is usually when they die as they finally come to peace with their life and ready to let whatever happens happens as he trusts God's will for humanity. For the Johtoddler, it means finally leaving the franchise after decades of memories and embrace reality. Get a mortgage, find a wife and start working to become a normal member of society. He is no longer "Greg the Pokemon fan" as all his friends and family knew him. Just Greg the normal, humble man. Maybe he'll visit around to see the occasional hype season or nostalgic Pokemon Go-like fad, but never stay. He has transcended above us.

The Strong and Fast style was just a bad rip off of Bravely Default
The artstyle was a (very) bad rip off of BoTW
The open map was a bad rip off of Monster Hunter
