All the cooking related stuff like curry and sandwiches. Not playing pokemon to cook food. I liked berry planting though, idk it was just comfy.

Yeah, this is the one. Wish it was more like contests (which are actually fun btw) and you could even win ribbons which Unova sorely needs, but it’s just nothing

I'd say the Pokéathlon is actually pretty underrated. Hardly anyone talks about it. Outside of of the occasional "Sunkern busted lmao"

most of the shit gen 5 added

musicals, pokestar studios, join avenue, dream world, all poorly executed filler crap that only really gets praised simply because they exist in gen 5 and zoomers need to maintain the narrative that gen 5 is the best

>i want to add new pokemon to my team but i don't want to put any effort in training it
aka missing the point of Pokemon entirely, you can complete the entire game without having pulled one of your guys out of the pokeball even once
training low level shits (or a full team in general) can be tedious but it's what gives a special connection between you and your team members and separates them from just wild pokemon
Like, shit like training a weak ass Ralts and watching it slowly becoming a powerful Gardevoir was so satisfying but now you can just put it in the back and forget about it
That's why even if I find some of the designs still good i just don't care about the game anymore

Not even trolling I loved Pokeathlon, i had so much fun with it

I would play an entire game that revolved around raising Pokeathlon mons and rising through the ranks to win medals.

I think it's more underrated or appropriately rated. DLC and patches that fix bugs in collectible cards was neat, but the process to get them in the game was expensive or too much for the average gamer at the time.

Why is it suddenly a sin when Pokémon actually adds it a basic QoL feature other RPGs have been doing for years before it?

It's in context with the rest of the game around it and the thematic point of the game. It's not a problem if it's optional or postgame only.

This, but practically everything they added to HGSS.
>convoluted and poorly designed safari zone slapped onto the ass end of the game to get encounters they were too retarded to add elsewhere
>shit stylus minigames you can grind for weekly evolution items they were too retarded to add elsewhere, and that's if they're not post-natdex
>voltorb flip to waste even more time getting TMs because they were retarded and removed the ability to buy coins outright
it's like they were more focused on adding time-wasting gimmick shit to GSC which were already shit games instead of making them actually fun

Because it sucks dick with the rest of the mechanics, Xenoblade X DE has the same type of problem
>Members not in your party gain EXP
>Level cap is now 99 instead of 60
>But you still gain class EXP based on how high the enemy's level is compared to yours and there's not enough good enemies in the 90's
I'll give EXP All in Gen 1 and 6/7 the compliment that you can turn them off when you don't want the complications but turn them on when you do want the effects. That's real QoL.
