Zorua evolution line, Exeggutor and Marowak are the only regional forms that are actually an upgrade.
Few of them like vulpix/growlithe evolution line are on par with the original form, while the rest majority are cheap knock-offs or lamer forms of the original.
Glad they stopped making them now.

Trips of truth. Zoroark Unovan isn’t erased or lessened by Hisui’s existence, at least in my book, it’s not any better just because it only has one weakness, it feels like a caricature of the original and I like it too, but separately.

Aninetails does something fundamentally different, but is more useful in that role than Kinetails is in it.

Garmanitan is kino, fundamentally has a more useful form change and is able to use both of its abilities to its advantage to be better than darmanitan.

Snowslash is better than sandslash but that’s not a high bar.

Rats are worse. Both defensively and offensively.

Hairy Digglet is garbage.

Harcanine is cool, feels very thematic with the ancient Japan vibe. Big fan.

A!golem is cool, feels like something fundamentally different and non competitive with golem but golem sucks so that’s fine with me. Galvanise self destruct is fun.

I like Surfchu but it feels incongruous with regular raichu. Wish it was just a branching evolution. Makes regular raichu feel bland at the same time.

Gapidash is litterally my mom’s unicorn, never seen it used competitively. Only regional that feels more generic than its base.

Glowing and glowbro are cool. Trading a better typing for toxic immunity. Wish they had a different cloister or cloister equivalent.

Amuk commits the sin of making the original look boring like raichu. Otherwise fine.

Gheezing commits the sin of being stupid as fuck.

A-marrowhack is cool, wish more pokemon could ditch their type entirely on evolution

Legendary birds are mostly worse than their originals somehow. I like Garticuno’s defiant/stored power combo though

Hammurott is every thing samurott was lacking, design is slightly tweaked to improve the sword logistics, design is sharper, it’s a physical attacker, posture is better, looks less dorky and it has a better offensive and defensive profile. Most importantly it can make progress in a game in a way samurott never could. Samurott needs lighting rod or something now just to not get left behind.

The other two however don’t fix the issues of their originals. It bothers me.

Long reach would have benefitted 1 fighting type the most but they didn’t give it a fighting type. They gave it to a ghost type, then removed it on the fighting type.

Hecidueye should have been a flying type. Long reach now removes recoil damage. Give it wood hammer and brace bird.

Yeah, Hamurott feels like the regional that is the most "literally just an upgrade" out of all of them. It doesn't even look that different, but just giving it a more sleek, less fat body works wonders. I guess Hamurott's less awkward stance and animations came with it as a result.
And of course it's dual type now and clearly made to be stronger than the original.

Long Reach does make more sense on a Fighting type, but Scrappy makes it Intimidate immune which useful on physical mon so got no issue with that

I would like redesigns for old mons too but Gamefreak will never do that unfortunately
