the scrapped one is a bland, vaguely sexualized flamingo with nearly no distinct characteristics. if it had ended up in the game it's pretty likely it would have had a hard time standing out among even the weakest of straightforward animalmon designs in the public consciousness, because on a very base level it brings nothing to the table conceptually beyond being a flamingo. there's no substance to it.
flamigo, meanwhile, is unironically a better design in every meaningful way. it's got an extremely simple and distinctive silhouette, yet manages to execute the fairly rich and comedic concept of being a punching glove while also being a plastic lawn flamingo - and its neck is tied in a knot to contain its power, which is weirdly high for an early game mon to boot? it practically exudes flavor, without any unnecessary fluff. it utterly mogs scrapped XY flamingo in the marketplace of ideas. it succeeds as a design not just in spite of its simplicity but because of it, and its elegant execution of a high concept just elevates it further. real flamibros already know.
