I like Wolfe the VGC player when he's making real teams and playing seriously. I hate WolfeyVGC the character he plays in his YouTube videos, and always cheer for his opponent.

Holy crap finally someone else who sees it. The character he plays feels like he's talking to an audience of children and praising your opponent is good sportsmanship and all, but the way he does it is so excessive. Still respect him as a player or when he talks like a normal person.

Don't really hate him (although >>57907547 has a fair point) I do hate that subset of his fans who take his word for gospel and claim he is the greatest player of all time, even though he himself has directly stated that title should go to others and expressing that he sees his one worlds win as being somewhat tainted. Especially as his knowledge of pokemon outside of VGC is rather limited. Like him not knowing spread moves have limited range in hoard battles as they run on a modified triple battle grid.

Wolfey's worlds winning team used a Raichu as a support mon. This Raichu knew Endeavor, a move at that point it couldn't learn in game. It only was allowed to know it because there was a japan only electric type tournament were as a prize for pikachu being in the top 3 most used mons for that tournament they released a pikachu that knew Endeavor. Note this was 2016 so before open team sheets were introduced. Even if you don't care about genning which the Raichu obviously was, it was still seen as a somewhat of a cheap trick as the vast majority of players were not expecting that move on Raichu as it required knowledge of an obscure japan only event tournament. It did end up making a significant difference in a number of matches as Raichu was able to whittle down opponent restricted legendaries into kill range that it otherwise wouldn't have been able to do any meangingful damage to.
