If I had to guess, I feel like Normal/Rock or Normal/Ice would be next. Maybe its because of the Normal-type component, but both of those seem really easy to slap on a Pokemon and call it a day.

What actual reason was there for Runigerus to be ghost/ground and not ghost/rock? I can understand Golurk being ghost/ground as traditionally golems were made of clay and its body is smoothed down like pottery. But Runerigus is based on runestones, which were carved onto rock. Yet despite being able to easily pass for rock being grey and angular the dex goes out of its way to classify it as a clay slab.

>Normal+Ice, Rock, Steel
All functionally useless combos. At best they'd be gimmicks and not very good ones without some particularly busted abilities.
>Normal+Bug
Has a niche for neutralizing Fighting and giving an otherwise Normal-type Pokemon some resistances, but instead of having one common 2x weakness it now has three common ones.
>Fire+Fairy
Actually really interesting defensive options here, lots of resistances. Only issue is it has some relatively common weaknesses including ground so it'd have to be fast or insanely bulky.
>Ice+Poison
Maybe a decent Fairy/Dragon killer? But that's super niche and these two types are always in exact opposite speed tiers meaning this would probably be in a very awkward middle ground with the benefits of neither.
>Ground+Fairy
Completely inoffensive combination but also not exactly inspiring any potentially interesting set-up here.
>Bug+Dragon
It should've just been Flygon but we were robbed. But also would be comically suboptimal with FIVE FUCKING WEAKNESSES. Only real compensation is it has some solid resistances.
>Rock+Ghost
Kinda has some sauce with an interesting defensive niche against Fighting but six weaknesses is BRUTAL. Especially if it ends up veering slow or an awkward middle ground of speed tier like Ice+Poison would be.

I think we've kinda hit the maximum capacity for interesting type combinations. Fire+Fairy and Rock+Ghost could be done in one generation and I doubt they'd really shake the meta or be particularly memorable besides their type combos.

Returning because Iโ€™m bored and want to see what I can come up with
>Normal Steel
Mouse or rat musketeers. Might evolve into a king with a big crown and more armor.
Alternatively a regional form of Mareep where itโ€™s covered in steel wool
>Normal ice
Animals in winter coats. Any of them. Penguins.
>Normal bug
A house fly, a silverfish (even if we already have one), a mosquito or a cockroach.
>Normal rock
A chicken because it eats rocks and pebbles.
Some sort of living kitchen salt, or an animal with salt on it.
>Fire Fairy
Theres so many options for this one. a fire sprite.
Could also be a lightning bug/firefly. Living fairy lights.
>Ice poison
Maybe something based off the Snow Queen fairy tale, or a jynx evo. Maybe a leopard seal crossed with a snake. Maybe a Portuguese Man-o-war crossed with a glacier
>Ground fairy
Earth sprite. Could be a cool sandshrew forme too
>Bug dragon
Flygon and yanma formes. I feel like you could also combine a wyrm and a caterpillar for something cool, or maybe a scorpion dragon.
>Rock ghost
Anything made of rock thats been possessed. Those lion dog statues they have in china that come alive to protect places would be cool.

Bearticโ€™s design is such a let down yeah, would love a variant that didnt suck.
When Iโ€™m thinking ice poison my mind goes more towards arctic predators (bacteria on their teeth) and fantasy characters (snow queen poisoning the hearts of children with her ice, norse mythos, etc).
Could maybe do something with poisons that kill by lowering internal temperatures too I guess

I want Normal dual types for the sake of gaining Ghost immunity while barely changing the rest of the type matchups. x4 weaknesses always suck but Steel is at least good defensively so it makes up for it. Bug is resistant to Fighting so it would have only two weaknesses instead of three and it's now immune to something

Normal Steel would be an improvement over pure Steel unless the pokemon's role is tanking physical attack (and even then it may still be). If that's not their role, their still scared shitless from Close Combat. Maybe that turns 1 or 2 would be 2HKOs into OHKOs from pokemon that get it as coverage in whatever meta its in. The benefit of a Ghost immunity outweighs the Close Combat weakness. Barely any type combos resist Fairy+Ghost but this would. If the pokemon is more specially bulky, then it would absolutely benefit. If it's an offensive pokemon, then an immunity provides more switch in and set up opportunities than the weakness would. If its offensive, it would also gain essential neutral stab damage against Water and Fire types which would otherwise counter a Steel type. Normal sucks on it's own, but compared to a single type, its almost always an improvement if added.

Better way to explain it: Normal Steel is a Dark Steel with slightly better defenses but slightly worse offenses. Bisharp, even before it got an evolution with a cheat ability, the best physical move in the game, and defog spam that triggered defiant, was still UU with, honestly, unimpressive stats. A Normal Steel with reasonable tools that other good pokemon get, could be great not inspite of but also because of its typing.

Another idea for an Ice/Poison, the design is so ugly, but it has a certain charm.

I like this idea. Would also be an opportunity to showcase that no typing is bad if you do it right

Did you anons consider they might have meant "inoffensive" as in "unobjectionable"?

Is anyone surprised they havenโ€™t had steel / normal THIS far in the franchise
Literally just have some rodent or dog or whatever pick up a sword or axe and call it a day

I as the second post, yes I did. Ground/Fairy is one of the best offensive type combos possible in the game. It's not "unobjectionable", unless they give it complete shitmon stats it WILL make waves.

They should add the Fairy type to Victini.
There should be an egyptian sphinx-like pokemon rock/ghost.
Normal/bug some creature that appears like a regular woodland critter but in reality is formed by hundreds of bugs.
That's all I have.
