Porygon makes so much sense to use as a phone assistant than rotom
- Rotom is basicaly a sentient ball lightning
- Normally used to power microwaves and washing machines, would burn your phone to a crisp
- Porygon was programmed on a computer
- Whole idea is that it can enter programmes on a pc, so why not do the same on a smartphone?
- The 3 evo forms could be used for older nokia bricks, newer smartphones, and hacked devices used by criminal grunts and supernerds
And yet we're stuck with rotom, which I can't help but see as obnoxious because of the gen 7 rotom-dex

>Rotom is a pokémon known to enter human tech
>Rotom is not a virtual creation, but a naturally-occuring one
>Rotom does not require a dubious upgrade, from a shady source to reach its full potential
Also:
>ESL reasoning "hurr, if it am puwer microwave, it am must be too strongt to make phone"
You do understand charging adaptors convert the power coming out the wall into power your phone can accept? Never mind, the pokémomn world is LIGHT YEARS beyond our human tech in detail (fucking teleporters and insta-heal machines to name but two) and would almost certainly have developed tech that could accept ANY old electric attack or pokémon's baseline electrical output to power tech.

Porygon is hackable via dubious software so far too easy to be corrupted/exploited. Rotom hasnt shown the same weakness.

The reason we're "stuck with Rotom" is because if they defaulted to Porygon, possibly even furthered the idea of new evolutionary branches that specialize in its ability to integrate with technology and cyberspace since it's clear in-universe that Silph Co. has completely given up on further development in order to make it fully capable of space exploration, then the rest of the franchise has difficulty featuring a now core aspect of Pokemon's worldbuilding due to Porygon's everlasting controversy from Electric Soldier Porygon, a controversy that will NEVER die because the episode was preserved, ensuring new audiences can continue to be struck by its seizure-inducing lights to this very day if they get curious about the notorious episode and want to watch it for themselves.

They both fucking suck balls, having a random 7th extra pokemon on you is dumb, having a weird living phone that talks to you is Yokai-watch tier shit. That barely worked in the anime with Ash's Dexter and even then was oddly underused and forgetable

Everyone having access to said mon is just lame and kills the uniqueness of the person chosing x and y Pokemon to represent them, everyone also having a rotom ruins this

Adding smartphones in general was gay and lazy with no identity, just reaks of "how do you do fellow kids?"

Pokemon tech should've always been sci-fi like chunky Dragonball Z capsule corp type stuff thats SOULful as fuck

To be more fair to the Rotom phone than it deserves, a lot of trainer tech and devices were inspired by the current tech trends of the time. We're just stuck with Rotom phones now because technological fashion has been pretty stagnant since it was refined down to being just a flat screen.
