What's stopping Nintendo and Gamefreak from releasing every gen on the Switch 2? I don't want to play the gen 2 remake or gen 3 remake on my 3DS or gen 4 remake on Switch, i want the original 2D sprites.

I'd pay 100$ per generation bundled in a cart.

It's literally free money.

Nintendo would get double cash if they put Emerald on the GBA Switch Online

I hope they finally kill Bank so there really is no excuse and killing bank would stop me from ever deciding to try for shiny Jirachi/Manaphy

Why do that when you can shit out low effort mobile shit like like LGPE and BDSP and sell 10+ million copies.

Because releasing the old games on a cart is even less work than making a half-assed remake, there's virtually no work involved, hell you can even skip the rewind function since they're not Switch Online games.

I can't even download Bank on my 3DS so i see no reason to complete the pokedex if everything before the Switch is going to be stuck ion my 3DS.

they'd make more money charging $70 each for 3D chibi versions of Gold and Silver instead and ignoring Crystal entirely

You can play your physical games on a hacked 3DS, Anon. They can do everything a non-hacked 3DS can do.

Gambling automatically makes the games rating jump to Mature, and TPC wants to avoid that for all costs. And obviously they dont know how to remove game corners from the old games, so they HAVE TO shittily remake the games to re-sell them.

I've never heard of such a thing, and I think there are more people using hacked ones than unhacked ones at this point.

Why do they care about the age rating of 20+ year old games, hell release them digital only.

because they don't want people playing the old games. they make the new games look bad in comparison.

1. Re-releasing old games cannibalizes sales of the new games because it makes it undeniably obvious how shit the new ones are. Competing with your entire back catalog is an untenable position for any publisher, let alone one with as many old bangers as Nintendo
2. It'd be on the Switch 2 version of NSO, so it'd run like shit and you'd have to pay recurring fees for the "privilege" of an objectively worse experience than playing pirated ROMs on an emulator on your phone

Oh no, some gay European law will eat 1% of our sales of this rerelease of a game that you'd have to be old enough to drink in America to be nostalgic for—that sucks
anyway

"just have an NPC standing outside the (closed) Game Corner selling you the prizes once per save file at a rate of 1 pokedollar/coin"
This obviously doesn't work as well in RBY but whatever

That's only slightly more expensive than a regular Switch 2 game. Why would you expect Nintendo to be so generous?
