Any X.5 set is classed as a special set and doesn't really follow the rules of release times. They come out a lot closer to main sets. 151 released a month after obsidian flames, we actually caught up to JP release meta at that time it was so fast

The prebuilt starter one? Throwing in a couple of Munkidoris would help too with Houndoom dealing 30 damage to itself. And some extra copies of the Houndoom ex because it's super easy to brick with the starter decks if your "big" card gets prized in my experience. I was looking for a way around counting the cards every time for a Rocket's Porygon deck. With all of the shuffling and deck searching I wanted to remove another point that would slow down the game. Say if I wanted to see how much damage I could do and decide whether I can attack or go for a riskier play to draw more cards and try and discard extra, I can just glance at the counter/die/whatever instead of counting through the cards.

It has unexpectedly come back from the grave twice, first when Zacian (and co.) rotated and second when Kirlia rotated.

Also still the best deck going into Worlds even with Grimmsnarl.

What other decks were this dominant and enduring in the TCG? I feel like you can argue that it's the second best deck in history just by competitive performance.

Hi anons, just started playing tcg live. I've been playing with some of the default decks but want to make my own.

I just don't know what packs to get. I want to build something slower that won't lose to charizard all the time. I really like switching out my opponents active with ghetsis, I like basic pokemon a lot, grass pokemon are cool. I guess I don't really have a question and just need some tips.

Poor matchups into Dragapult, Raging Bolt and Flareon I assume. Munkidori is definitely a necessity because you would get steamrolled by Pult and Grimmsnarl otherwise. You would probably struggle into Joltik box's Pikachu without Munki as well.

Adding the Drakloak line really improves the draw power and a single Pult gives you an out vs Cornerstone, though it worsens the Grimmsnarl matchup.

The saving grace for dengo is that it has a favorable Garde matchup, but the rest of the meta is rather hostile to it.

it could be that zard's bad match ups aren't as popular in japan right now. pult has been about 20% of the meta in tournaments in other regions until naic. I don't know the exact number for aichi but I dont think pult even showed up on stream once until the finals so it might not have had a large presence there.

I'm thinking about swapping out Nymble and Lokix with another Eevee/Umbreon, Bosse's orders, and Team Rocket's Nidoran and Nidirino. Or skipping the Team Rocket cards, putting Ancient Roaring Moon and Ancient Booster Energy Capsule for +60HP. Just using cards that we have currently that might fit in a Dark deck. I could replace the 2x Houndoom with Houndoom ex for only a few dollars more but I don't see a point in having 2x Lokix. It frees up five cards.

18 energy is a lot. most of the game you'll just be attaching and passing. decks that ran a ton of energy usually have a reason too but it doesn't seem like any of your attackers need more than a couple to power up. you can cut like half of those energies for stuff like ultra ball, buddy poffin and arven just to help your deck set up and get going.

In gardy it's possible to bench 3 and gain full value out of them every turn, they don't need to manually attach elsewhere (similar to grim) you can just work on powering up munkis on the bench
Grim wouldnt have enough damage counters to throw back 90 using 3 like gardy can, unless you're opponents hitting into you but you can't guarantee that. Grim has to compensate some of the deck and benchspace for froslass to enable the munkis, while gardevoir doesn't.

Targeting owls can cripple decks like eevee/bolt if you get a good iono/stamp, but it's pretty easy to draw out of those even late game. Even an out to fez can often do it. It's not really as effective in flareon because your attackers are still ready anyway, while bolt wants to have a sada to continue

but yeah threatening a sylveon attack turn 3 is very strong, you can shuffle 2 of their drakaloak/dragapults in deck and leave them with nothing. get rid of both their kirlia/gardevoirs too. or both impidimp/grimmsnarl lines. not a lot of decks will set 3 out so you can shut them down. after that you kinda just attack for free as they can't do much. just re-sylveon shuffle back anything if they make some progress
aggressive basic decks like raging bolt you kinda have to just race instead of shuffling with sylveon, you can ohko grass pons with flareon and ohko the rest with sylveon or clefairy. or multiprize with water pon if they try and rotom yo

Mostly just decks that can race you, or set up fast. If a dragapult is attacking the turn you are it's pretty difficult. And charizard decks can blow up your leafeon lategame with their gust spam while you can't deal with them back
It's got a lot of lines to play that you'll get from experience, like using water ogerpon more vs decks that probably wont have shaymin or have a full bench. Koing their active dreepy+bench one is better than shuffling in 2 from the bench for example. but if their active is budew then shuffling can be better

I went to Walmart today and I was surprised to see they have Pokemon cards since I thought scalpers always take everything immediately.

If you REALLY wanted to make houndoom work id do something like this, and go primarily on its first attack (since 3 for 220 really aint cutting it) With nymble to clean up koing stage2s. Denying basic attacks by gusting their basic attacker and distruption supporters. Zoro is a good backup attacker and engine while the rest is kinda your traditional staples. Obviously this aint perfect i quickly threw it together off an existing deck. The focus is still on houndoom mainly which is what you wanted
