A thread for the creation and discussion of fan fiction and other fanworks - anything that involves a story and/or reading. What've you been reading? What've you been writing? What would you like to see more of?
>Thread question:Fanfics very rarely end but if you were to write an ending to one, how would you do so? Would you feel obligated to close every plot thread? Can be something you are writing, dropped, reading, or read.
>Previous thread:>>57910530
>>57918794 (OP)Isekai MC becomes Champion after years of grueling effort but then in a flash of light Arceus transports them back to their original world, the very second they left. Their body is back to the way it was, and all of his Pokemon and human friends remain in the Pokemon world. All he has to remember his grand adventure by are his memories, which he can feel fading...almost as if it had all been a dream...
>>57918794 (OP)FFfag here. FF1 actually ends very vaguely. Not just in a 'You won! The End' kind of way that a lot of NES games ended but in a sort of intentional uncertainty about how the world has been effected by the story.
So for my fic I have both the urge to emulate that while at the same time I want to wrap up the loose ends in a neat bow. I've been thinking about how to balance these two things in a satisfying way.
Out of curiosity, what would people here prefer to read? Do you like stories that leave a lot of unanswered questions, or do you prefer getting full closure?
>>57918844Reminds me of when people talk about the first Narnia book. Those kids lived full adult lives as kings and queens of the realm before getting booted back to the moment they first arrived. At that point it's practically a reverse isekai considering they may have lived longer in Narnia than Earth.
>>57918794 (OP)Obviously each fic has its own specific way of doing a conclusion. Whatever themes were explored should be highlighted (if there were any), and the protagonist should return “home” (whatever that may be come journey’s end) a changed person. I’m a sucker for a good multi-year later epilogue where the principle characters’ changes are on full display. I would assume BoC would involve Lee and Ninetales in their own lab or something after Maxie/Archie/Delta Episiode have been dealt with (holy fuck those are all a long way away, that story is never ending).
Bonus points for if you can have the last line of the last chapter seem like a reference to the opening line.
>>57918844>>57918849This and those "return to salaryman" endings fill me with bitter rage on behalf of the characters. It's endings like that which cause people to cope with fanfics.
>>57918991They did return to Narnia tho
>>57918794 (OP)>Fanfics very rarely endAll of mine reach some state of completion.
Go me!
>>57918845>Do you like stories that leave a lot of unanswered questions, or do you prefer getting full closure? All of the main arcs should be satisfied. Otherwise you didn't conclude, you just stopped.
B plots need to be at least partially resolved and world building should be obviously open. That way if you're one of the very fortunate few to have people shout "MOAR!" after reading the story, you can come back and write a sequel composed of moar.
Cool pic. Very Kalos themed
>>57919008Two of them returned to Narnia, the two younger ones who had grown up a bit so that they were guiding two new younger people (if my memory serves). It's actually mentioned how the older kids 'moving on' as they grow up is the reason they can't go back. Kind of wild implications of a former queen moving on due to 'starting to think about boys more' when theoretically this would be the second time she's gone through puberty.
>>57919137three died in a train accident and arrived to Narnia where Aslan took them to the REAL Narnia, except Susan because she turned into a whore or something
>>57918991the actual world is too shit to justify it. Anyone willing to abandon people they formed a year long bond over for the garbage waiting for them on earth would be insane.
I don't care how much you love your family and friends, people change and you can't have a pokemon story about friendship when all those friends are just stepping stones to go back to working for israel.
>>57919156I never read all of the books, but that sounds stupid enough to be true.
>>57919173It's completely true, the entire series is a very literal allegory to Christianity. Aslan is not just meant to remind you of Jesus, he's LITERALLY Jesus wearing a lion fursuit in a different dimension. But because of all the fantasy trappings the metaphor often gets very strained, like with
>>57919137 talking about the older sister meant to be an allegory for becoming swayed by worldly temptations and forgetting God, but prompting the question of why, if God were real, wouldn't he just more directly intervene like he did with putting the kids in Narnia.
>>57919169I made a vow to my wife to be with her. I'd take this shitty world over betraying her to live in a wonderland.
>>57919188kek, yeah, in a pokemon fanfiction thread. Less believable than nuke trauma
>>57919183I am very much aware of how literal Jesus's fursona is in the series. That's why I didn't even question how retarded that is.
>>57919188>not bringing your wife over to a more idyllic world.
>>57919196>not able to believe that people in a group that they are part of are capable of finding loveI was gonna bully you, but nah. You should believe in yourself more. You and everybody else in this world deserves love. Work towards becoming a man who is seen as worthy of that love.
>>57919228Might choose. I have a pretty close knit family and I would miss them, but if it meant taking care of my wife I would do what I had to do. The question is if the pain of losing whats being given up is worth whats being gained. For many people the world has not been kind enough for them to see any reason to stay. But I have been very lucky despite my hardship, if only in that I can say I have many people who I love and whom love me.
I would never judge anybody for staying, but we all have our reasons for the choices we make.
>>57919247Believe in what? Abandoning dozens are people and pokemon for selfishness? Midwit behavior
>>57919276Believe that you're the kind of person who can find people in this wold who you wouldn't abandon.
>>57919276In the most evil trainer, they show him constantly struggling with leaving them behind and try to give a reasonable reason to go back, child grooming aside.
The idea of how bad that is is one of the main themes with the story saying the most evil trainer is someone who abandons their pokemon
The tale shall end in a manner befitting of the nature of Chosen One, wether it means the end of All and the rebirth of All or the end the cyclus as a whole. And when the the exploits of the protagonist of destiny are over and the trail laid before time has been marched over, only then will the narrative be satiated and the pen drops.
>>57919372But what makes a chosen one a chosen one?
>>57919381(you), the Author.
>>57919156I hope Lewis is burning in hell for doing my girl Susan so fucking dirty.
>>57919523Sounds like she was the one doing dirty.
>>57919556Aaaaaaaay but yeah fuck Lewis.
Speaking of which, didn't Iris did a Kira Kira (Gundam) to talk to Ash's Dragonite?
>>57919580What do you expect from a long, tedious Jesus allegory?
Also, looking at Wikipedia, apparently Lewis was making the point that she had lost her faith in Jesus and Heaven (Aslan and Narnia) and that there is probably a story in her perhaps finding her way back to the faith, but it wouldn't be the kind of novel he'd care to write and leaves it to interested parties to try the task for themselves, which is a kinda cool way to handle the issue: go write Susan's story if you want to see it.
>>57919589First of all, are you the retarded faggot trying to push muh blood type aura?
>>57919690blood type is effective on pokemon with blood ignoring type advantages and disadvantages
Can Pokemon have humans jobs, own property and vote? Or do they need a trainer to function in society?
>>57919936Only if they pay taxes.
None of them are stupid enough for that deal.
>>57919944>Meowth used Pay Day
>>57919984>counterfeit currency straight to the pc box jail
>>57919991The move description says the trainer picks up the coins that were thrown, it is actual money

>>57920027nice autism lol
What do wild Pokemon with the Poke doll you throw to flee the battle?
If the ecology book is canon then Pokémon do eat each other and humans eat them too meaning that their magical meat can be used as a reason behind their bodies being stronger than ours
>>57919611>which is a kinda cool way to handle the issueMore like the cop-out of a hack.

>>57919262Do you think she'd be mad if you returned and she finds out you didn't even try to beseech hoopa/lunala/jirachi/palkia/arceus to get her isekai'd too?
It worked for the PMD partners.
Very tempted to have a jibberish-babbling rando get disembowled by a hostile Pokemon but I figure it's too edgy. Would it make a difference if he's Indian?
>>57920104That's awful, eating pokemon. Thankfully, I have a vore fetish so I only feed my pokemon humans.
>>57918794 (OP)>Thread questionI have a very specific ending in mind but it's 500k words away at the very least, I'll link this post in 2030 when its finally done and say "I did it guys"
>>57920291Racism pisses me off, and I'm not a big fan of randos being killed for the sake of edginess. But I probably am also not your target audience, and its your story so you gotta write what you think is best.
>>57920291Since it's a mob character I'd have no investment in their fate either way so the most you can go for is to make it funny or entertaining in execution.
>>57920264Well I just asked her and she said she would only go if we could bring everybody we love. At least in the stage of our lives that we are in right now.
>>57918794 (OP)>thread questionWhat I'm slowly writing now has multiple stopping points, so if I ever burn out I have goals to work towards instead of some super end point
Other stories though?
>New NormalRight after the whole regigigas and palkia/galatic arc it was the most logical end.
>Slow life pokemonHonestly when they first saved him, so have the prologue just be a snippet story, or when the first oddish evolves. Shows him being a positive influence and leaving his development more open
>savageBeing adopted by the Tyrantrum would have set up human (mostly) vs wilds instead of ANOTHER rehash of gen 1/2, now with 70% more italic usage and woe is me trans edginess not sure why I'm still reading this to be honest, don't even like that damn story or its premise
Truthfully speaking most of the stories I'm reading so far aren't at great stopping points. It seems that most people write stuff with massive arcs in mind but forget that they write slowly. So that 300,000 word arc lasts 4 years.
>>57920326>Racism pisses me offboo hoo?
>>57920416>2nd spoilerHow many anons have a story like that? Something that you keep reading despite the fact you don't care for it or even hate it? Or maybe its cause you like the intial premise and it never delivered? Sheer boredom and self loathing?

Which is better?
Aura just being like literally my mom's Dragon Ball Ki?
Or Type Aura giving unique and specialized powers and capabilities based on the Type?
If the latter, should some Types of Aura be more common and some more rare? Or should the spread be equal?
>>57919262>wife>>57920356>wife who loves familyHas there ever been a story with an MC (or SI) significant other to the MC? I'm not talking about they start dating in the story but like they start as a couple?
Sort of like the Incredibles, where the focus isn't on getting a relationship but having one and working together. Honestly sounds like it might give a new direction for the more drama/social facing authors
>>57920421Savage Divinity on royalroad is that lol. Shit went south at chapter 150~ and continued going south and souther till its terrible ending at ch840 as patreon was hemorrhaging.
I wanna touch the skies was like that too. Started okay, but as someone who was reading it closely the author started to crash out hard with the tranny stuff. There's a clear mood shift as the story became worse and worse.
>>57920424For the love of god try to go one thread without bringing up Aura powers you DBZ refugee. Humans don't need the powers because the Pokémon, the shit that the entire franchise is based off of have them and they work together. If your MC can't handle not being the star of the show during both social/plot stuff and fighting? Then you need to go back.
Aura needs specialized stuff, psychics get tk or telepathy, dragons get the stupid killing intent aura, fairy aura means your grooming is 2x effective
>>57918794 (OP)It's more of a perverted power table than actual fanfiction, but here:
I've created a system where pregnant pokegirls wield the pokemon powers in their bellies to manhandle and dom boys. It started as indirect bestiality BUT I just had an idea for "pokemon bonded Z-crystal impregnation" instead if you hate nonhuman shit. I'm not much a bestiality guy anyway. Seriously though yes, why not? Especially if you have some kind of poketranslators or smth. Just make them several tiers where they gain more rigths and more duties, like wild mons, then trainer-owned mons(like small children), affiliated with trainer mons(like 14-18 children with some additional rigths with trainer still responsible for them) and independant citizen mons. That way all lazy mons would just chill while ambitious ones would rise to the top. At least that's what I would've prefered.

>>57920529To be fair, and not saying that's a good thing, almost every story with powers ends up doing that, especially in shounen that is what fanfic authors read to get inspired.
Reminder any """""""people""""""" you meet in the Pokemon world are soulless beasts that have no human rights or are deserving of empathy. An entirely different species altogether. There are no ethical consequences to torturing them or killing them, as a matter of fact, and if you decide to stay in their savage world because you "bonded" with them you are a pathetic cvck that should be slaughtered like a dog on the street, just like them.
It is your moral obligation as an isekaijin to ravage their fields and turn their harvest black, run their streets awash with blood, and eventually open a portal to OUR world so we can tear down their primitive culture and enslave them along with all of their Pokemon. We will rig their legendaries to generators that will power our cities for eons, and grind the magical properties of their lesser beasts into powders and chemicals, quantify their most esteric phenomena into numbers and decimals—and all will once more be right with the universe. Such is the Human Burden.

>>57920834It's nice to read something with an active female character who might be saucy and proactivein a relationship but not overbearing/hyper femdom.
Honestly feels that most of the time people can't seem to imagine female characters taking the lead/being proactive without turning them into emasculating pegging machines.
>>57921012Ikr? I had the same issue in a lot of romance I read, where the girl who was extroverted felt too dominant and made the man look weak. But this was the first time I did something like a shy boy who hid it under a layer of toughness encounters a sassy girl. Had a lot of fun writing the dialogue tho, and it was all improvised too. Glad you liked it
>>57920294Would your pokemon consider Cynthia a special lifetime meal or what
Who else would they eat?
>>57920424I'm just making it stupid situational unless the character's invested into it. A basic fire-aligned aura would leave someone resistant to fire, for an obvious example. But I'm also treating aura the same as type energy/psychic powers/etc.
Overall, all aura is rare outside of some special circumstances, like a dedicated attempt to keep it in your family's bloodline, or external supernatural bullshit. You can be born with a type other than 'Normal', but you can also acquire it through behavior and keeping a 'mon or several of that type. So a trainer who was one of the lucky few that was just Normal type who started with a Roggenrolla, then picked up a Rolycoly would wind up tuning himself to rock type, and get those benefits.
I haven't written my fic for two months, I think I should go back to it.
>>57920843I don't think so, but it's your concept. You should stick to what you like, let em write his own list.
>>57921051This is actually something I've been thoughtful of in some of my stories. A big theme I seem to be fond of that I wasn't aware of until I started writing more is 'sidekick archetypes forced into the role of MC' as I've now written it 3 times without intending to. This has led to some of the female love interests and co MCs to be rather 'strong independent woman' type of characters. I personally see nothing wrong with this, but I know some people may interpret this as the male MC's being weaker. But I'll just have to trust my writing to be able to stand on its own that way.
>>57921051>>57921985It's a fun dynamic that can be tough to do write. I've been trying to write my female MC as being openly interested in the male MC without it feeling domineering. Having him both not be oblivious to it entirely but also not feel like a wimpy idiot for not responding to it yet has been the biggest challenge of it

Is Struggle a move that's powered by Aura?
>>57922045Yeah, right now the one fic that has romance be more of an active part of the story also has a dense MC. But his density about the girl's affection is more backstory as their relationship starts at the end of the first chapter. Its more other characters pointing out all the clues that made it obvious to everybody else in hindsight. So he's not a push over, but he has a hard time actually knowing what she wants unless she tells him directly.
Kind of humiliating leaving adult Pokemon in a place called Daycare if you think about it
>>57922512calling it the love hotel won't have been such a good move either.
Fuck it, not even a single good villain in stories.
Should they make OCs based on other franchise? Like fucking hell, why is Giovanni always a dindu noffing
>>57922537Which stories make Giovanni a dindu? He’s always explicitly a bad guy in the ones I read
>>57922537Nah, ain't hearing that, I got two autists on my ass in these very threads telling me I was writing an unbelievable and power fantasy story because I had an OC villain snatch a Pokeball from a game protagonist and escape them afterwards - not even beat them in a fight, just successfully manage to thieve them.
>>57922588Manga stories that get past the RBGY era, Ashes of the past, that Silver SI but it's still too early to say
>>57922592I remember you bro, your villain wasn't a cool ninja or some high officer but just a lucky grunt iirc.

>>57922616>that Silver SIin that one Giovanni orders to kill Proton for failing a mission
>>57922616>your villain wasn't a cool ninja or some high officer but just a lucky grunt iirc.He literally was a high officer, they just got hung up on a misunderstanding that I called him the lowest-ranked and thought that meant the weakest. Also,
>That figure was a young man, maybe in his mid-20s, and about average height. His slim figure was cut by bright red trousers, accentuated oddly by a black bolero jacket trimmed by floral white patterns. His hair was stark white, pulled back and swooping behind his head, and his eyes were hidden behind a pair of slick shades that must have been killer to wear this late at night.I practically hit the reader over the head that the guy is not some ordinary grunt.
>>57922624Was that before or after the Fuji pasta?
>>57922690Oh then I dropped it
>>57922588The stories that make Giovanni a dindu, from what I've seen, always do it with the excuse of "Johto is sucking up all of Kanto's resources and has all the political power and ruining Kanto's economy and so Giovanni created Team Rocket as freedom fighters™ to restore Kanto to its former glory and push out the Johto oppressors".
>>57922609Does reforming/redeeming/preventing a villainous character from becoming a villain count? I don't think it should. Kinda different category.
>>57922627What's the story name?
Also did the MC get one of their pokemon stolen? I can see people geting salty about poketheft from any source, especially so if they're retarded enough to miss cues and think some grunt did it
>>57922537Depends on what you mean by good. Normal has giovanni convinced its better to help the league instead of making a criminal organization to help his region. Most others don't really have villains turning good.
Now if you meant good as in competent then that's a different story. Competent villians, but not so competent that there's really no way the heros could win without actual BS another grand failing of MHA, though honestly most media as well are a rare find.
Smart villains are often overwritten, Turing into an evil sherlock holmes. Strong villains end up being bleach esk, where their strength is so far beyond that MC wins feel contrived.
I've found most people don't want to deal with reoccurring villains because they're hard to write well. There's also the ever present fear that some autist will make it his personal mission to post on every chapter that the villain/bad guy is way to OP. Even if they're not.
Another side effect of competent villains or incompetent heroes is that the story starts to drag, I will touch the skies is sort of like this. Either retardation of MC or semi-competent enemies constantly means that the protags suffer constantly.
Can't just have a stream of mooks and cardboard cut-outs of mob tier threats, thats just not compelling.
By the same token having a constant stream of hyper-competent villains, or incredibly strong enemies means that the MC and friends never recovers and you go into the shounen constant fight/suffering route.
>>57920834I would have liked this better if it hadn't been Cookie's first day at the daycare. As it is, they go from just meeting to sloppy makeouts and love confessions over the course of an afternoon. If Cookie had been, maybe, the one regular at the daycare who was still flirting with/pushing Whisker's buttons, I think it would have made him lashing out so strongly and feeling so guilty afterwards feel a bit more natural. Otherwise this was pretty good.
>>57923205>Strong villains end up being bleach esk, where their strength is so far beyond that MC wins feel contrived. This 100%. It's such a fine line writing a fight that attempts to put fear into the reader and thinking "there's no way the hero can win this" but also having it be believable. The fights that come to my mind that pull it off well enough are Naruto vs. Pain and Invincible vs. Conquest. Maybe I'm just a big fan of the fight that story-wise ups the protag's standing in the world. A good chunk of inspiration for my story comes from a fight that does this I'm hoping I pull off well, but I'm still 30-40 chapters away from writing it *sigh*
>>57923259Reading this really gave me "I will surpass you!" vibes of Luffy vs Crocodile.
>>57923205>Strong villains end up being bleach esk, where their strength is so far beyond that MC wins feel contrived.Kek, reminds me of pic related minus the villain part.
But that aside every story needs tension, be it something pathetic like ntr bait in romcom or an invincible (at least at the moment) enemy to let the reader know the character/story is moving forward.

>>57924677I just realized I gotta change a big element of a fight that happens later (which will make it longer) so I really do have to split it up. I didn’t want to end the chapter right before things got good (I don’t like being a tease when I’m not intending to be) but considering that part will probably be ready later today, I can do that too.
I'm waffling on whether to cut an eating scene from my next chapter. Without it, the halfway point of the chapter is already near 4k words, and it doesn't introduce any crucial plot elements, and was more to showcase the location they're in, so I could roll snippets of it into past tense musings of a character in what was the following scene. But I'm sort of tempted to keep it because it gives me a chance to do a little more with a character only introduced the prior chapter and hasn't done much yet. Is a little character work worth an otherwise superfluous scene in an already hefty chapter?
>>57925645I'm curious, what kind of food? Berries? Cakes? Pokémon meat or just "food"? But to he honest I never liked that stuff, I remember reading something where almost every chapter had the MC eating and never shutting up about muh money because he was rich

>Researching info about Pokemon I'm thinking of using in a story
>Girafarig has the shape of a horse and its Pokedex height is 4'11 which matches a typical horse being 4'10 - 5'8
>The average horse weighs 900-1200 lbs
>Girafarig average weight is 91 lbs
>Farigiraf average weight is 352 lbs
Ah so Pokemon is one of those Japanese series where the creator(s) have literally 0 understanding of how much things weigh.
Why is this so common in Japanese media?
>>57926214Kek, realismfags are so damn funny and never fail to make me chuckle
>>57926284It's not just a Japanese thing, lots of writers/artists/creators make mistakes with the scale of a lot of things. Weight, distance, time, those sort of things. Its a common thing because most people (including the person actually writing it) don't bother to research something they don't feel is important.

Instead of Aura, Arceus gives (You) the ability of a mad scientist with a specific focus. This could be pokeball technology, hot air balloons, mechas, etc. Your work seems impossible to science and cannot be replicated or mass produced.

I don't see anything wrong with trained humans being able to successfully fight pokemon, we have plenty of canon examples of it already in games/anime/manga. >>57929931>those silver eyesAre silver eyes really that weird in Pokémon? Anyways, is that Delia?
>>57929943Yeah what is this, RWBY?
>>57929943>Anyways, is that Delia?yes
>>57929931I know this is basically a Mary Sue power trip but I doubt he would get away if he tried something, either by Oak or a pissed off Ash, bu then again everyone in this story is made to look pathetic to suck his dick.
So how did this end?
>>57930113>So how did this end?Silver became an emotional support tampon and comforted her only the way a smart and cultured person such as himself could. I am not making this up.
Advancing the Delia/Jessie ship agenda by exposing anons to the alternative.
>>57930126So by being an asshole? You know, sometimes I really think the author is a woman
>>57930133Delia/Mime is peak and I won't suffer you carpet munchers saying otherwise.
>>57930142Mr. Mime pegs Tracey out behind the barn at Professor Oak's lab and you can't convince me otherwise. He and Delia are platonic co-habitants.
>>57929593References are only cringe when they're hamfisted and obvious. If someone could reasonably miss it or has to wonder if it even is a reference then it's usually based.
>>57930136Honestly probably the nicest conversation this walking edgelord ever had, and naturally Delia is now part of his backup harem.
The character building of Lorelei was actually decent this chapter, and I'm more than willing to say the cliff hanger at the end was pretty good.
>>57930133I don't need convincing, the comic about Delia waking up the morning after they first had sex alone, getting depressed and self-loathing because she felt stupid for thinking she'd found someone she could trust again, only for Jessie to burst back in to lay down after eating all the bread in Delia's kitchen was the exact breed of sweet melodrama I live for.
So burgerbros, did you finally picked a body to possess in the Pokémon world?
>>57929931why did the author write that part
why would silver even care
>>57930136she breaks down and isn't one of the author's constructed faceless characters so SI-lver did the classic grr I'm so grumpy but here's some deep insight to show I really care routine
rec some crossover stuff to read while commuting.
>>57927032He did all 18 just fyi https://files.catbox.moe/zet8d6.zip
>>57930376What do you like tho? Like anime, games or manga setting which are basically non-existent
>>57930325Either Unova Dream Scientist Lady (I always forget her name since I never played that game) or... I don't know, it's hard to think of a guy in pokemon who's aesthetics I like in a 'I wanna be them' way. Maybe Will, if only because I could take off the mask and nobody would know who I am. Plus I like psychic powers.
>>57930376I feel obligated to shill my Final Fantasy 1 x Pokemon crossover.

>>57929931Not sure why I keep reading this, I guess some of the training is interesting? Maybe just sunk cost. Do you think the writer genuinely thinks SI-ver is a good character? Thinks that he's a nuanced and conflicted character? His "conflict" lasted all of half a chapter and he's been solidly in the mega-asshole since then. His "actually is a caring person" shtick is bog standard and maybe even more grating because the universe bends over backwards to justify his assholeishness.
Bigger question. How self aware does everyone think SI authors actually are? Do they think these characters are deep and compelling? Is it just they enjoy the fantasy of chimping out on everyone and think their readers do to? Is it the sort of ironic self awareness that seems to infect everyone, "I know I'm an asshole and a bad person, but because I know I am that makes me better than people who don't know they're assholes?"
I'm genuinely curious. Theres quite a few Edgelords, suffering is character growth, and "panics and freezes" SIs.
>>57930557Alright you shameless self premoter. I know nothing of FF but I'll read this and get back to you with my thoughts.
>>57930557>>57930739Alright just caught up with it, keep in mind I'm not familair with FF (beyond the Wiki summary I just read).
The anon from a while back talking about the structure of the flashbacks is right. The back and forth between present, future and past is sort of convoluted. It probably would read better if in the first chapter it was arranged chronologically. Other chapters can have flashes to specific scenes, like the choosing Trio day but the start? Nah, a bit too disjointed, especially for someone not familiar with FF.
I enjoy the idea of prophecy being different between pokemon and humans, and that both could potentially be right. I think characterization is pretty good, no one feels just one note. Some choices though feel like they lean hard into the anime/JRPG stuff. The main character's no kill desire, the talk no jitsu for both death of garland and pirate fight, knockoff hex maniac and a joy being lesbian? sure man, whatever gets you hard
The no kill thing is an odd choice, as far as I'm aware FF makes no compunctions about killing shit, and doubles down on that in later games so why did you go this direction? Could possibly be character growth worthy but you'd think an established knight in fantasy middle ages would be a little more use to death/killing.
Descriptions of pokemon, moves and fights are pretty good. I enjoy that you don't immediately just tell readers "oh he looks like___"
I enjoyed reading it, but I've not played FF games, never got into them when I was younger and now they're all way too into their own lore/ass to bother getting into. So I think people who like FF will really enjoy it and people who aren't familiar will struggle at first, especially in those first 2 chapters, but find the story interesting.
>>57929931>Silver says something rude or acts like a jerk>characters comment how rude and jerk he is>repeat ad infinitumit gets annoying after a while
>>57930967The no kill thing, along with a lot of things in the story, is just something that seemed to naturally evolve from the character. Wol is the heavily defensive type, and he just naturally is the kind of person who doesn't want to hurt people or pokemon more than necessary. Plus, I am trying to keep the tone of the story from getting too far away from the Pokemon side of things. I want to give both franchises equal footing, while the setting is Final Fantasy inspired the characters are more Pokemon inspired. And it isn't a one note trait, the first major arch is pretty much an escalating trial of the difficulties of pacifism. Exploring the logic, benefits, and limits that come with wanting to save everyone, even your enemies.
Actually writing this made me remember a scene from FF8, where the child soldier mercenary MCs have to save a town of absolute pacifists from an evil empire that they couldn't reason out of burning the town down. The world needs both pacifists to work to make the world a more peaceful place and soldiers who can protect when peace fails.
As for the lesbians, I'm not even into yuri. It just felt like a natural joke to make considering they are two weird girls living alone together. It was more about showcasing that even though Wol is much more experienced with pokemon and combat than Jane she is better at reading people and social cues do to being a princess who has been trained with courtly affairs. Sort of a 'While you were at parties I studied the blade' situation.
And thank you for confirming the issues with the flashbacks. Your feedback confirms it wasn't a one off issue but a possibly major hurdle for new readers to work through. The intent was to be a reflection of Wol's own confusion about what was happening and why. Though thinking about it I realize it's a technique I actually use again in later chapters too...
1/2
>>57931628In some later chapters dealing with mind control and illusions I use the same sort of disorienting style as the flashbacks to put the reader in the same mindset as the characters. There is much more intentionality with it then, but I am worried that it may just be a style I've given the story that can't be removed or changed without effecting the entire tone. I may have to accept that the story is goingnto be even more niche appeal than originally intended. If so then I may just accept that.
Anyways, I appreciate the reading. You're the first person to give feedback into at least the third chapter so it surely won't be long until somebody finally gives me feedback on the literary value of the mermaid gangbang in chapter 4.
>>57932076Me and Gigantamax Roxanne.
>>57932076What if Onyx SHRINKS (which every pokemon can instinctually do btw) while sandslash is inside him?
>>57932275sandslash also shrinks
>>57931659At least with the mind control and mermaid malamar/dark elf fuckboi the shift in perspectives/jumpiness sort of makes sense. It's still not great from a reader perspective but at least that one makes more sense.
The boss fight in chapter 6 paints a pretty good picture as to where the plot is going or at least how you'll handle the boss fights moving forward with the mix of people/pokemon just like digimon frontier you hack but it was handled well overall.
>>57931628Tonal wise that makes sense, I'm not a huge fan of multi-cross stuff but I can respect what you're going for and I think you've got a good balance so far. honestly killing astos/darkrai shouldn't even count as a kill. He's a dark elf, they're scum no matter the setting
Didn't know about the FF8 scene, though that just means you'll have another reference that FF fans can catch/think about.
Fair enough on the social cues "I studied the blade" thing. Though its pretty easy to tell that Wol is socially retarded at that point in the story. He seems to have missed every social cue so far. princess relationship, pirate shenanigans, the thing with garland in the beginning, small princess relationship He's getting better but he's definitely on the spectrum.
Reminder that there's nothing wrong with using popular Pokemon for your teams and that the wannabe hipsters who always whine about them and say they wanna see more unpopular Pokemon getting used and what-not are just a very loud minority.
Popular Pokemon are popular for a reason no matter how much some people want to pretend otherwise.
Don't let their sour grapes and crab in a bucket mentality over the Lucarios, the Gardevoirs, the Charizards, the Eevees and more let you stop you. Just laugh at how envious and seething they are at their favorite shitmon is not as popular as the previously mentioned mons.
>>57932672Just use whatever makes sense for the story.
>>57932672Reminder that you should use pokemon that make sense and have a reason to be in your characters' parties. Also remember that those 'mon are either reclusive or rare in universe.
>what if... psychic type punched?
Interesting interesting, but what if Psychic type didn't punch? Have any writers considered that one before?
>>57932672Reminder that your MC should have a harem for his team.
Don't be a pussy.
>>57932699Psychic/fighting type is a thing tho
>>57923255Thanks, I appreciate the criticism
>>57932789>Psychic /Fighting typeName 100(one hundred) fics that do this.
Psychic puncher is ALWAYS not a fighting type
>>57932855Are there stories with actual psychic/fighting types in MC team? I don't think I've read a story with Medicham, and the story that has the ralts line is with a female ralts.
Then again Sword spoon and searching far and wide are the only two fanfics that I remember that have "fuck using my brain I'll punch/sword shit" as a gimmick, others just have psychics use everything.
>>57932624Actually I'm taking so many liberties with describing locations and events that the only thing that most Final Fantasy fans are gonna recognize are the names and the basic plot outline. This is way more a pokemon story than it is a Final Fantasy one with how it's evolved, which makes sense since I was inspired by these threads to write it. Especially since every mainline FF game takes place in a completely original setting with different rules for how its universe works. Most FF fans won't recognize anything in this story. Which is fine, it's an outlet for my own pokemon and FF related autism, but the actual FF references are so deep that most FF fans aren't even going to get them.
>>57932672Reminder that MC's team should pass her around like a blunt.
Her womb is for eggs.
>>57932699Inspired me to make a psychic who is a dumbass who likes kung fu and fighting types. His dumbassery means there is a lot of empty room in his head for his psychic powers to brute force anything. But he would rather just kick somebody's ass with his fists.

>>57918844Would you end your fanfic with aldith being victorious over Cynthia or what
>>57918794 (OP)
It'll end with dirty kikes like shaunberg getting kicked out of 109 universities, including a shitty commiefornie one where they dump the dunces who couldn't score high enough in the SATs and had to take a joke """test"""
Remember that shaunberg, the kike from tel-aviv, tried to pretend he had an """iphone""" at first, then a substandard (((prebuilt))) """desktop""", then a Samsung, and now some IBM (compatible) shitbox. Like all his kind, he'll never be able to get his story straight. After all, he tried lying about being from (((Stern))) despite his IQ and SAT score being far too low for anything above a shithole like CAS. The fable his fellow shartyniggers try to spread about him being an American, therefore, is an outright fabrication from some yidsraeli who can barely speak English. He even has to wait until this hour to use some shitbox without permission, after supposedly """buying""" (stealing) some useless machine to post from. One can't help but notice how it's always the kike shills and their hired shitskins who support him, or his filthy jew family that buys shitphones for him and lets him reset their routers, or his fellow jews who let him beg them for freebies.
He'll never be able to deny this because shaunberg, as a yid, has no spelling errors when typing in his native language, yiddish. Meanwhile, whenever he tries to type in English, so many typos abound. This alone is enough to out shaunstein as a filthy jew, who was kicked out of Nasser Yorat University and not New York as he tries to imply, and was rejected from the University of Tel-Aviv and not UTM. As a member of a (((tribe))) with a professional victim complex, shaunberg's only available instinct when punched by a single pajeet was to curl up and beg for mercy, then play the victim later, rather than fight back like a real man would.
