I like that gen 5 gives all three starters defense-lowering moves instead of growl, which only makes the first battle take longer

have you ever used dunsparce in a playthrough? it's super fun to use and i'd recommend putting it on your team if you haven't before, it gets a fantastic movepool that can carry it through the game even in spite of its average stats

maybe it's just me but virbank city still feels like i'm in the super-early game. i think it's because route 20 is so short, there's about 30 feet between the guy with the riolu and the gate.
it's like if you're on a long road trip, and you drive for 20 minutes to get out of your hometown, but then you stop at a gas station. the trip hasn't really started yet. i think an adventure starts when you get far enough from your home that there's no reason that would make turn back. and in BW2, that's not until you take the boat to castelia.

Getting strength when you already got an infinite return tm after the first gym kinda sucks. Strength used to be one of the HMs like surf or fly that you could use on a non-mule as their fourth best skill without it being completely dead.
