Honestly I understand the current timer functions slightly as a skill check to stop new files from getting carried into catching 7*s too easily but it affects the good players lobbying up and is mostly unavoidable thanks to the really slow lobby menu and the inability to see your ally's stats and progress, like their selected Pokemon's stats.
