If the original Ninetales never existed, and Alolan Ninetales was released in her stead during Gen 7, she would still be remarkably well-received by virtue of her beauty, simplicity, and elegance.
I do agree though that many of the Paradox Pokémon, megas, etc. leave a lot to be desired. Ninetales is one of those few exceptions, not the rule.

Room for both. But Pokemon can feel awkward on the occasions it pushes its stylistic boundaries. Mostly some legends feeling like they would be better off in a more detailed style. Solgaleo always comes to mind.

Not really. Z-A's a side game and Digimon introduce lots of new monsters all the time. Even taking alternate forms into account, Digimon either ties or exceeds the number of the species compared to Pokémon.
