Not really, it's a holdover they didn't bother changing from the original beta intro, which actually featured all three Kanto starters together, to emphasize that this was POKEMON 2, the DIRECT SEQUEL to the first Pokemon.
Which is still true. GS are still Pokemon 2, having a direct continuation of the Team Rocket storyline that answers the question of "so what happened to the grunts when Giovanni bailed?" and in GS specifically, has the in-universe narrative hook of 100 additional species of Pokemon emerging after Red's journey, whether due to shifts in environment, or new discoveries such as the Sun Stone or Red's rise to the championship inspiring other trainers to approach their own Pokemon with the same genuine love, care and compassion that Red did.

In the case of YuGiOh spamming the same archetypes is baked into the game's design as a way to balance it - you limit new cards to specific decks, so that the game's combinatoric complexity is still manageable.
In the case of Digimon however it is literally the same shit as Charizard, if not worse. I think Digimon doesn't get any flack for it because most of the fanbase is nostalgiafags.

There is a core difference between Pokemon and Sonic though.
A series bringing back its iconography is nothing new, yet only in Pokemon's case is it derided to this degree.
In Sonic's case it's somewhat warranted because for 20 years of its existence every game was mostly its own thing with very few callbacks, then after Generations they pivoted hard towards nostalgia pandering, so of course people would be alienated.
With Pokemon it's always been like this, I mean fuck, the few times they tried trimming the fat on old shit to bring back those games got huge hate brigades.

The actual Triforce isn’t in BotW/TotK but you still see the symbol all throughout the game, which if people were to seethe over the Triforce like with Charizard then just that would get them angry like the Kanto posters in SwSh.
Regardless the actual Triforce is in Echoes of Wisdom along with the 3 goddesses with little to no mention of Hylia.

Others have compared Green Hill to Whispy Woods from Kirby, not realizing that HAL Labs does something new with the character in every game he is present in, with the latest one even making him a final boss, as opposed to Sonic Team doing fucking nothing with Green Hill, which is a location and not a character, but even concerning the character of Sonic, he's an actual gary sue that fans can't stand either.
Charizard getting preferential treatment is the problem, Pikachu is already the mascot, him getting a bunch of stuff is balanced by Pikachu being a middle stage shitmon that was originally supposed to be completely unevolved to facilitate Gorochu's existence, why does Charizard get two mega forms, and the strongest Gigantamax form and to be Leon's ace and to be in the game before Venusaur and Blastoise, it's favoritism, unfair preferential treatment, even when at the expense of others.

The Triforce still appears in symbols and logos, likw the royal crest and Hylian Shield. Plus iirc when Zelda sealed Ganon at the end of BotW, the Triforce appears on her hand. It still exists, just isn't mentioned.

6 because a huge chunk of the dex were Kanto mons, mostly Kanto mons getting Megas, with one of it's starters and main legend getting two.

Alola introduced regional variants. Only new ones being Kanto mons, plus a solid chunk of trainers use at least one Kanto mon or member of it's line. Finally there's Blue and Red appearing in the Battle Tree for whatever reason.

Pokémon doesn't have a 'main cast' like Kirby and Sonic do, Red isn't the protagonist of every game, Blue isn't the rival in every game, the main antagonists aren't always team rocket, the professor isn't Blue's grandfather in most games, the fire starter isn't always Charmander, etc.
This is precisely why Ash overstayed his welcome by the way, rather than end his story on a high note and have a new protagonist begin their own, they insisted on preventing and resetting Ash's progress just to keep him.
