>>57929678The way I've always coped about it is that Pokemon games aren't really "games" per se but a service that allows you to interface with the world of Pokemon.
It's the same reason they were called "Pokemon [...] Version", they're not distinct games but an update to that service with new features, and the split versions are just different models.
So from that perspective they're not meant to look like game covers but product covers, like the images you'd see on the box of your new phone or something.
