They’re about to announce a collection of games called Pokemon Classics. They’ll drop a “volume” every couple of months, each volume contains all the mainline games of a generation. Vol 1 & 2 will be $30 each, Vol 3 4 & 5 will be $50 each, Vol 6 & 7 will be $70 each. During the next Pokemon Day they’ll announce a $150 physical collector’s edition that comes with an artbook and soundtrack collection. All the games have local connection and are Home compatible, with Nintendo Online you’ll be able to do online features for Volumes 4 and beyond. Volumes 3 - 6 will have all expired events enabled upon beating elegible games. Each Volume will have a hub screen that’s themed after its generation, with option gameplay borders based on the consoles of their original release. Volumes 1 - 5 will have ENG / JPN language toggles, with Volume 1’s Japanese setting including the presence of Green version.
The vision is to have a powerful, convenient, modern home for all of the series’ history in time for its big 30th anniversary in 2026.
Nintendo Online Expansion Pass subscribers will be able to buy Volumes a month before their normal release. Volume 1 and 2 will both be available Fri August 22, making it available to Expansion Pass subscribers the same day as next month’s presentation. Only the first 3 Volumes will be available to Nintendo Switch 1 owners, with 4-7 as well as the Collector’s Edition being Switch 2 exclusives.
Not all of this will be revealed during the presentation next month, but enough of it will be for the rest of my claims to be verified.
