So can we all pretty much agree that a playthrough of this game is boring, slow slop with not much variety?
Most of the new pokemons are just dex filler garbage like finneon or are specifically designed to be a niche in multiplayer and are overal garbage in using during a playthrough.

The game literally throws those annoying ass steem/psychic pokemons with levitate and then offers 0 firemons at all. Gamefreak is such a fucking hack, they can't balance for shit. Same problem gen 3 has where swampert can carry you through the whole fucking game

wtf are you talking about thats like 2 lines retard. scizor, gliscor, togekiss, garchomp, eevees, gallade, houndour, etc all viable. even the fucking regional bird rapes the game with close combat

No, I’ve probably played Gen 4 the most after 3. The games are slow and HMs are gay, but the encounters greatly open up after Hearthome and you have move tutors for better sets

I've realized that the only way to make the series engaging is self-imposed rules. Set mode, no items in battle, only grinding if you absolutely hit a brick wall. On top of that I try not to use coolmons/shillmons, I always incorporate some dex-fillers into my team.

You could also play some Vanilla+ hacks like Renegade Platinum or Eternal X/Wilting Y.

No not at all. I actually enjoyed a Pearl playthrough more than I expected because Sinnoh has some really solid mechanics and gameplay loops. Something like BW is an actually boring playthrough.
