You could of course argue that he's just too dumb or absent-minded to catch what she actually meant, but that man is a somewhat esteemed researcher who used to work in Area Zero. He'd ask what exactly she was planning to do if he wasn't a freak, but he immediately agrees to be her personal guinea pig.
He also generally has strong "knows more than he pretends he does" vibes.
