About to watch this kino. Hope it's an actual adventure and not wtf melodramatic slop the first movie was trying to be. Will report back thoughts

Every single pokemon movie is about melodrama

In the context of the fact that Pokemon was a very unbuilt world that didn't really have much of a "defined" plot going on, Shudo's early work is genuine kino

In the context of the direction Masuda took the series and how he built the Pokemon World into being this "no Pokemon are evil" nonsense in this insane fantasy world that almost feels alien to people, it's certainly out of place and doesn't really mesh with how people currently perceive Pokemon

I still can't get over how the entire Electric Soldier Porygon situation happened BEFORE the franchise was localized

I thought it was cool how the Legendary Birds in this movie were portrayed as dangerous forces of nature at the time. Their fight is such a big deal that it throws nature out of balance and local news is covering the disaster.

This was before we got guys like Kyogre or Giratina who just create chaos normally.

You are 99% a troll
But in the 1% chance that you aren't
I hope you are watching these in original
Without the dumb 4kids dub
Of course the first movie (and all the others actually) is a melodrama slop, these are literally different movies made to cater to american children specifically

Not informed on trash movies sorry.

Honestly tho, I'm not sure how much they are changed nowadays, probably a LOT less than how they used to do things in the 90s.
According to bulbapedia and the like they only list minor changes for the most recent ones while for the older ones there is almost a page worth of changes

(Btw I suggest reading stuff up on Dogasu's backpack, that is very informative on the matter)

It's probably the single most heavily rewritten Pokemon anything.

Nobody on Bulbapedia know Japanese for shit, their lists of dub changes are almost always just copied from what they saw other people write elsewhere.
