HUGE LEEKS Edition
What is Pokémon Sleep?
Pokémon Sleep is a sleep tracking app that utilizes your smartphone and/or the Pokémon Go Plus + device to record data as you sleep. In doing so, you'll be able to meet a variety of Pokémon and fill out your Sleep Style Dex.
Be sure to post your Research ID so that you can add and share candy with fellow Anons. We are currently locked at 50 friends.
FAQ:
>How do Shinies work?If you encounter a shiny Pokémon, you only need to feed it a single Poké Biscuit to befriend it.
>What should I spend my diamonds on?Expanding your ingredient pockets, item pockets and Pokémon box. Long term you’ll want to max out ingredient pockets, only get half of max for items and max 100 for Pokémon.
>When should I use my items? When you have a good grasp of the game mechanics. You may want to save up Recovery Incenses for event missions.
>What should I spend my sleep points on?Poké Biscuits first or if you’re a premium user: Main and Subskill seeds and Great Biscuits.
>Can I play this game if there's a lot of noise where I sleep? The game tracks sleep based on motion only; sound has no impact.
>A Pokémon I fed got full! Will I have to start from scratch the next time I find one?Nope! Pokémon retain the level of progress they were at the last time you fed them.
>How do dream clusters work? The higher your research rank, the more you get. You may want to hold onto them as long as possible.

Found darkrai's 2 star sleep style Tuesday night, didn't see him last night, hoping I can get the 3 star tonight and don't have to wait until next month
>>57946410Both New Moon events have taken place early in the week, making it harder to get any decent style of Darkrai.
>>57945302>80% of your rolls are berries>no bfsit's ass
>>57947416Perfect is the enemy of good in this case.
A mono-leek Farfetch'd with only a single Ingredient Finder M still beats an optimal Dugtrio or Quaquaval in leek gathering.
Didn't get my 3 star darkrai last night, maybe next month
At least it wasn't a total wash...
>>57947700That Chikorita is fantastic though.
My 10th Ditto
Not completely awful, I suppose, though still far from good.
>>57947416>wasting bfs on one of the weakest berriesbait
First couple of eevees that don't seem straight candy fodder?
>>57948731Second Eevee is very much worth it.
Shiny Eevee doesn't really have much going for it.
>>57948729>wasting BFSIt's not like BFS is detrimental to it in any way, except maybe a few less ingredients overnight.
>>57948744what would the second one be useful for?
>>57948862The best skill-focused Eeveelutions are Sylveon, Vaporeon, and Espeon. Depends what you want really.
>>57948766except you're trading double one of the weakest berries for a subskill that would be better on a pokemon that is a single stage, meaning less inventory.
It's not like dragonite or even mawile who have strong berries. BFS is just a waste on farfetch'd. Why would you ever trade less high value leeks for more shit berries?
Well, guess I'm all set for the next island
>>57949495It's like you're saying there's a choice in what rolls you get and that BFS somehow replaces Ingredient Finding M + nature. Farfetch'd is not a power Pokemon by any means, but BFS really doesn't harm it by any significant metric. At its absolute best, Farfetch'd returns Leeks at a low rate and slow speed.
>>57949903Anon, the initial post in this entire reply chain is some retard saying the other anon's Farfetch'd was ass because it had no BFS.
Obviously if you already have a god tier skill spread AND BFS on top of it, that's gonna be great, but on a pokemon like Farfetch'd, BFS is basically completely irrelevant, it barely adds anything, and the lack of it definitely doesn't make any kind of Farfetch'd any worse.
I’ve got a gengar with ingredient nature ingredient M and even that doesn’t seem to be enough. Starting to think I need bfs on him for how many berries he gets.
>>57950239From personal experience, it's not necessary, but Gengar benefits a LOT from BFS. There are a lot better options for the ingredients that Gengar gets now, so it's better as a secondary source for anything it can get.
Yesterday I got two great successes on the Cram-o-matic and this morning was the first time I woke up to two shinies.
I don't know if this is sheer luck or a sign from whatever /x/-sourced entity lives in my phone that things are about to get wild.
>another event week with boosted rates for a pokemon where I never encounter it
Genuinely fuck this game.
>>57951391Too bad neither of them are worth anything more than +1 friendship badge progress.
>>57952190>no ingredient skill until 75don't you fuckin dare
can someone tell me why farfetch'd gets nearly double the slot 3 ginger than tyranitar?
>>57953150It's all based on the power of their A ingredient.
Leeks are one of the strongest ingredients, so to match the power of 7 leeks, you need 12 ginger or 13 sausage
>>57953150Also it's balanced by speed and ingredient gathering rate. Despite gathering less at a time, Tyranitar basically gets ingredients more than twice as fast as Farfetch'd.
What do you think is the most important ingredient to have a good collector for? Coffee for end game recipes?

Dream Shard Week II when
>>57954071Probably Honey. It's a common ingredient, but tons of recipes use it, and they use a lot.
>>57955161What did you do, use the Cram-o-matic 4x per day? 1-2 is pretty much free, 3 is a little expensive, and 4 is only if you have infinite dream shards.
>>57954562based togekiss enjoyer. sleep well, sweet prince.
>>57954957It's pretty much perfect, anon. Kinda stupid to ask after investing it to the max already but still, you probably will never find a better one.
>>57955256I’ve been disappointed by its proc rate. Some nights it doesn’t have a single one after I wake up so I figured bfs or helping bonus would help but it’s seemed like the lowest performer when compared to the regular berry bros on power plant.
>>57955219He’s quitting which means he’ll never sleep again
>>57955296The only things that would help its proc rate are having access to Skill Trigger S and going to bed with 130+ Energy.
>>57955303based insomnia enjoyer
>>57955180I did and I think I underestimated how long what I started with would carry me. Ah well.
>>57955354did you at least get any good candies from it? I turned all my sudowoodo candy into bug M, and I don't know what to do with that shit
>>57955506I was able to get quite a few Flying candy which was extremely helpful to invest in a Rufflet. The only one I was stumped on was Ground.
When I got Bug I turned it into Grubbin candy, kind of for similar reasons because I wasn't sure what else at present.
>>57955506Pinsir is pretty decent as a Honey farmer if you ever get one, and we also have Vikavolt for coffee (and I guess mushroom).

They put a whole Eureka Seed system just for the single Darkrai you can ever get, but no way to change its fixed Bashful nature.
2nd anniversary is on the way and they dropped a bunch of announcements last year.
20 on cyan, I better see some good fucking food
>>57955852I hope so, but they'll likely be so expensive that it'd be easier just to keep hunting
Just reached master 20 on Cyan a couple of hours before my bedtime, no GCT needed. Pretty cool milestone, and now I have the first four islands all at M20.
Guess I'll start looking for a Dedenne now, I think that's the key to getting M20 on OGPP, alongside a boosted cooking event.
>>57956519Wait for expert mode.
Did you cram? I pretty much used the Cram-o-matics 3 times a day, every time it was available. I also think this was actually the first time I got any Fighting candies. Fed it a mixture of Pikachu, Wobuffet, Jigglypuff, Cubone, and Slowpoke candies; no more than 20 of each at a time.
D1: Fire, Ground, Electric
D2: Steel (x2), Steel, Dragon

jesus fucking christ this game
there's gotta be a mechanic like bottle caps in the main series
I realize I fell into the secondary trap of the Cram-o-Matic. I just had to buy some extra inventory space, because all those non-item candies turned into items. I at 460 and slowly building because I'm also hanging onto Dream Shard Clusters for at least until I hit 65.
>>57958005Oof, if only its skills were completely reversed.
>>57958005I woke up to this one today, can't wait for patch 3.0 to announce a reroll feature like that will happen
>>57958104I think you would struggle to find a farfetch'd worse than this one rip
Check out my fat cat.
For some reason, despite catching a ton of them, all the first stages of Paldean starters I got were meh at best, but I caught this one as a Floragatto and also got a pretty decent Crocalor. Go figure.
>>57958600Had pretty much the same happen with this Skeledirge.
>>57958821Good shit. Also leads into the mega-evo theory.
Last year they released high-res anniversary artwork on their press kit site, I hope they do that again.

>>57958821>prelude event>greater appearance rate for paldea starters>150 sleep points extra each day>>57958858I am glad I am not the only one that thinks this might become a thing in the future.
>>57958821>kanto ingredient>johto berry>paldea ingredientthese are definitely berry pokemon, I just don't see them making starters skill pokemon
>>57959145I thought they could make a type-shift berry Pokemon line, but Sceptile is all grass. Each generation of starters has had its own gimmick or focus, so I don't think it'll be as straightforward.
Oh boy, newbie bonuses, and now you can REALLY p2w by straight up buying Main Skill Seeds from the diamond shop.
>>57959675They might still be limited, like how there's a cap on ultra biscuits.
It also gives me something else to do with these diamonds I've been saving up, as long as the price isn't outrageous.
Otherwise the candy buff for levels 1-25 and 26-30 is really good. A little annoying that they announced this just after I powered up a Pawmi to level 25 yesterday for a candies mission, but I'll live.
>>57959550The base stat distribution of the Hoenn line naturally just outclasses the Kanto line and Johto lines just a bit, so there's a chance that they just perform better.
They could also just be, ingredient specialists again but with a completely new spread with no overlap.
What're the odds any of them are gonna gather the good stuff like cacao, mushrooms, coffee, corn, herbs, etc? Please don't let sausages be anywhere near them.
On the other hand, ground types have been completely fucked over in Sleep and Swampert is an opportunity to fix that.
Made some cleaning and now there are 3 open friend slots
Add me, fellows
>>57959675Kinda worries me since they are inconsistent with their sleep to shop conversions (and vice versa).
If I use the current items as free/pass I'd think around 900 to 1100 diamonds. I think it'll be around 500 diamonds per seed, but it's wait and see for me. I was expecting to see more shop items at some point to cash in on the people hoarding diamonds
honestly I have not spent any diamonds since launch and I've got 5.5k accumulated already
why spend them at all?
sleep points too, i've got like 300k I think? what do I even spend them on? on some useless shitmon?
>>57960619Diamonds are best used for storage upgrades, especially ingredients.
Bag upgrades are also nice if you want to hoard dream clusters so you can claim them at later research ranks, for increased value.
Sleep points, you get biscuits to help befriend Pokémon. Most players have a few chase Pokémon so they can improve ingredient gathering, set up berry farmers for an island, try for their favorites, etc.
You can also get handy candy and main / sub skill seeds to power up the worthwhile finds, and evolution items that some species need. Never buy link cables though, those are practically free.
>>57960672i'm already capped at 1000 box usage and ingredients storage as well
other than that, there's really nothing else
is a gastly with BFS and helping speed better than an ingredients focused one?
What do I need for a Murkrow?
is this usable or do I keep looking?
>>57960718this is an excellent murkrow, and barring something like BFS you couldn't do any better
>>57960706better? no. still good though. ideally you get both. however you've got bfs, but kind of nothing else. the nature and other subskills really don't synergise.
if i had nothing else on ogpp it's technically usable, but i'd rather not
>>57960864still really good though it'll suck to get to 50
>>57960864I wouldn't be complaining, eggs and sausage are used in 2/3 of the strongest dishes atm, and herbs are good pot filler
>>57960706This is perfectly serviceable on OGPP due to how damn fast Gengar is.
What it might lack in overall ingredients, it won't lack in filling pots and stuffing Snorlax.
If you've got a ton of Gastly candies to spare, it's worth a look.
>>57960864Ingredient boosts on berry specialists isn't a death knell. That's a strong candidate for the future Bug / Poison / Dragon island.
arbok
md5: a06913ddd9816295b8cb12b21a075d57
🔍
>>57960929>>57960968There are some berry pokemon with exceptionally high base ingredient rates, which makes any Ingredient Finder pretty significant and Arbok is one of those. This one specifically, trades anywhere from 10-40 berries for like 5 ingredients. Still usable by sheer strength of Helping Bonus, but I'd be much happier with even just a neutral nature. Ingredient ^ EXP v is next to the worst possible nature for a berry type, only beat by Speed v.
Arbok has the highest ingredient rate among berry types, followed by Altaria, Feraligatr, and Weavile. Suicune actually has the highest among non-ingredient types.
I already released quite a few
none of these are any good
not a single ingredient up S or M
or ingredient up nature
>>57961010In that instance, yeah it's a surprisingly big hit to the berry strength.
And you don't just "sneaky snack" berry specialists that have Charge Energy S, you need those skill triggers to maintain performance.
I’m so spoiled by the two weeks of meals x1.5 strength. Just got a 90k crit and was like “eh”
>>57960619For diamonds, I buy GCTs on some events, as well as upgrading ingredient space. Sleep points for biscuits and Main Skill Seeds.
>>57960706There are two kinds of Gengar: Berry focused and Ingredient focused.
A BFS Gengar is legit better than a BFS Banette, so if you aren't already swimming in Raichu and Steelix, it's plenty worth it. I assume it will also be good for Expert Mode when it comes out.
>>57960718It's basically perfect, I'm extremely jelly.
I tried the app out last night but had a sleep paralysis episode and got a low score. Should I restart my account and start with a full 8 hours of sleep?
>>57961637it's early in the week, so a low score won't kill your gains as long as you get the new player bonuses for sleeping, but having a tired pikachu for the day might suck.
>>57961637>>57961656Your score really won't matter all that much early on, since it's going to be so low anyways. The only thing that's going to matter is getting enough strength by the end of the week to get to 8 spawns consistently, just so you can get a better selection during your Sleep Research. And you probably won't even get there for at least a few weeks IIRC.
>>57961637some pokemon to look out for are all the starters, pichu, igglybuff, eevee, caterpie, and your favorites
Not too bad for a random hungry Braviary.
Bundles look like pretty good deals. Also this will probably be the cheapest you can get a main skill seed, even if the incenses are mostly worthless.
7830-3857-1731
A couple people added me and I declined them without checking my friends list to see that I had multiple 7+ days offline players added. I'm not a tryhard (though I will still try to prioritize research letters based on what's optimal or rare, like Dratini or Larvitar, etc). All I request is you remain relatively active, by which I mean submit sleep data at least once a week. I'd prefer more consistent friends, but I miss a couple days here and there due to stupidity, so I won't be a chode about it. I won't be adding anyone tonight anyway, going to bed now. Will maybe link this post again after I wake up.
>>57963091and what I meant by "prioritize" was that I will send best letters as I can, not that I expect constant dratini/larvitar letters in return.
>>57962894Paldea starter incenses for already common encounters, that are going to be even more common next week, is a silly choice.
Though it does mean that next week, you can at least expect a good amount of candies for them.
Still questing...
Weird ass rolls on all the wrong type Pokemon.
I gotta wait until maintenance for the candy exp buffs then?
>>57964650Yeah, it doesn't state that the buff won't be active after maintenance is finished
I don't need meowscarada candies... I need stardust to get him to 65!!
Maintenance in under 3 hours. Nice that they fixed the push reminders to make them a lot more timely.
>>57964813But meowscarda doesn't even do anything with levels past 60.
>swap teams
>dont leave team screen
>check two hours later and helpers havent gathered anything

Prelude Illustration without logo
I hope they do a nice artwork of the gen 3 starters as they did with the 1st anniversary.
Was this bgm ingame already or from an earlier event?
See next link for vocaroo
https://voca.ro/19CDcZwroFi0
Since others do datamines better and the devs pushing updates before the event goes live, I don't do it so frequently anymore and only assets for personal use.
>>57966505pretty sure that's new music, but happy to be proven wrong
>>57960219>900 gemshate to be right
>1 time a monthAlso exp update is working as well for any waiting. You can check yourself by increasing the amount of candy first to see the difference.
>>57965766Getting a Meowscarada to 65 would boost its strong dark type berries, more relevant if it's BFS.
But it also starts turning overflow EXP into handy candies, I powered up my Wigglytuff to 65 for that reason since I rarely remove it from my team.
>>57966527900 diamonds for one main skill seed a month isn't as bad as I thought, but it's still like £14 worth of diamonds if you're buying them. You're still better off just playing with a premium subscription and spending your sleep points sensibly.
The candy boost at low levels is welcome, I just powered up my Pawmo from 25 to 30. I'm sleeping with it atm to get it evolved into Pawmot for a future Raikou team.
It has BFS, Skill Trigger M, Careful nature, it'll be worth it.
>>57966505That's tied to the New Moon events, but it's still a beautiful arrangement.
>>57966075I dunno, got me too a few weeks back. The spaghetti code or just decisions the dev made are baffling.
>>57966075>>57967389I think it should be obvious that your changes are only saved after you exit the menu. Why would you even bother staying on the team screen?
>>57967403>two measures to ensure that you're using the team you intend to>changes are explicitly saved in the menu, but it's "obvious" it's notYou press "use this team" and then expect the game to work and use that team. I don't know how any other functionality of this interaction can be defended.
>>57967403If that's a deliberate function, they should change the confirmation message then. "Your team will be updated upon exiting this screen."
>Why would you even bother staying on the team screen?Because all the menuing on this game is tedious as it is and I'd like to minimize how much attention I give it outside of feeding and collecting helper resources.

is any of these birds worth investing in?
>>57968653Pretty decent, though I think a Blastoise might actually get you Cacao more consistently than Clodsire will. Slow + low rate really feels like ass a lot of the time.
>>57968776Potential best is the leftmost, but requires Subskill Seeds and could potentially eat up to 5 to get what you actually want. Second best is the rightmost with both skill triggers, though you also need level 50 on both options. Rightmost gets away with not using any Subskill seeds, but Skill Trigger M + nature is stronger than Skill Trigger M + Skill Trigger S.

>>57968776I recently got my own good bird, shame to reach its potential means level 50-75 really. I'm wondering if having no speed ups would be annoying too, but also if honch is even worth investing towards?
>>57968827Probably makes sense to track paid and unpaid in case of refunds or any other number of scenarios that would require tracking, regardless of the game. Though of course the most common reason would be to separate them for purchases that require paid-only currencies, like if the premium pass could also be purchased with Diamonds instead of only being paid separately.
will this game fix my sleep? i've been trying to better myself, waking up early every day and all, but fixing my sleep is the hardest part
>>57969764it's not 100% guaranteed to fix your sleep
but there is a decent impetus to have a more consistent schedule, you get rewarded for doing so
and a bunch of various tips dispersed throughout the game that might be relevant for you
possibly the best thing it does is basically force you to put your phone down
Is BFS munna line worth investing into? Got one this morning but it seems like a lot of candy for weakish berries and just some extra shards.
>>57970332it exists solely to use with cresselia
>>57969764My sleeping habits are shit as ever lol
>>57970332I thought I've seen people say shard is a pretty terrible main skill regardless of what mon has it. Just not rewarding enough relative to proc rate I think.
>>57970332It's worth training every berry Pokemon, especially with Expert Mode on the horizon. And Munna isn't even that bad, though its overall power IS hampered due to the sole fact it can also gather Dream Shards.

🔍
>>57971905If your Go Plus+ ever gets stuck in the future, like it doesn't function despite having power, there's a tiny reset button on the back.
It's only a hardware reboot, so it doesn't wipe your connections or your progress with the sleeping cap Pikachu.
In the nearly two years I've had the thing I've only needed to do this once, but it's worth remembering.
>>57972143where can I buy one?
i'm using a separate phone to play sleep but this could be more convenient, I think
>>57972618Unfortunately only second hand stock seems to be available. They released them July 2023, and they're popular among Pokémon Go players too.
I'm hoping they restock them sometime because I have an IRL friend that wants one too.
Pokémon Sleep does support certain smart watches though if you have one of those.
>>57973020the thing about the smartwatch is that some of these are way more expensive (although they might have more functions, obviously)
but the fact that some watches have to be charged overnight means that they can't be worn during sleep time
also, you can't really "cheat" time slept like that, I guess
>>57972143How much does the cap chu contribute?
>>57973482It mostly helps gather some extra apples, honey, and cacao, which isn't negligible when it's on top of any normal team formation.
The grepa berries it gathers though only go up to level 20 and hardly make a difference. I'm hoping that they update the sleeping cap 'chu in the future as they've raised the level cap for it once before.
>>57973548I don’t play Go so it’s probably not worth buying just for sleep right
>>57973632Depends how strongly you feel about using your phone for sleep tracking.
I doubt I'd be playing Sleep without the Go Plus+, but that's just me.
>>57973661If you're concerned about using your phone, it may only really matter if your phone is older and doesn't retain the process as efficiently. Modern phones are good about managing any heat and their battery. I've been using only my phone for 2 years now with only a couple tracking issues early in.
I think I'm officially starting the check out process when it comes to this. I'm barely remembering to check my sleep in the morning and I'm regularly missing lunch now.
>>57971957obviously you need to get it to level 75 to unlock the helping speed.
>>57974704I've been a solid player since launch without being too hardcore and I feel like I'm going through the motions at this point too. I've tried to invest in some things I've not had a chance to yet for some variety (like a BFS Cleffa I've held onto) but it's not sparking joy.
Where to for next week? We also have a 1.5x cooking bonus, but nothing really fancy. Assuming the most interesting stuff will be on the actual anniversary week.
Also the L Bundle may or may not be worth since you can also just buy a Main Skill Seed directly from the diamond shop. You mainly get a good deal on 6x great biscuits (100/piece vs regular 200).

Had this guy for a while and I need a salad mon this week, worth investing?
>>57979190>not mono tomato>not tomato oil oilsorry, no
>>57978902I'll take the small boosts while we have them I guess.
>>57979190>perfect ingredient spread>helping bonusonly thing that would make it better is bfs earlier
>>57979322>prefect ingredient spreadShinx is an ingredient Pokemon, so the best spreads are AAA, AAB, AAC, or ABB. ABC is too inconsistent to rely on for any particular ingredient.
You could use it at level 30 if you're really desperate for Oil and some Tomatoes, but it's not really worth investing past 30.
>>57979322Perfect for which dish exactly?
This is why I struggle to interpret ingredient mon quality, some people say spread good some say spread bad.
>>57979495It's simple, you're not guaranteed all three items on the spread proccing at once. If you want A and your pokemon is abc you might not get A. Check with any level 30 pokemon with ab, you will never reliably get either so the best way is to make sure 2/3rds are one type
>>57978518I haven't had salad in weeks, even months somehow.
Still haven't made a single apple-acid salad because of that.
I'm not complaining so much because I'm on desserts this week, and they're my best dish currently.
>>57979174Very similar to my OGPP Gengar, just ABB instead of ABC. Trust me that'll be a great fixture at OGPP as a general pot filler and strength contributor.
>>57979190I wouldn't call it perfect like that other anon did, but it's a reasonably good mixed gatherer as something to consider as an OGPP or Raikou team fixture.
>>57979495>>57979514Yeah, this is the issue I have with my BFS ABC Victreebel.
I went from having a decent option for Dream Eater Butter Curries, from not having one because of the added leeks.
This isn't to say that ABC ingredient specialists are useless by any means, they might provide higher quantities depending on the relative strength of their first ingredient slots which make it easier to fill the pot, and they might help provide variety if they're not your rotating ingredient gatherer as most mono-ingredient specialists often end up being.
On desserts weeks, I'm regularly alternating my Blastoise for milk, Bewear for corn, and Vikavolt for coffee.
I really should have rolled off of desserts. They're by far my worst since I have no Honey or Cacao farmer, and my Apple farmer is pretty sub-par.

Forgot this, but turns out they ARE going for the sub-type shift, even though the Treecko line is all Grass. So it's entirely likely that this generation is berry farmers regardless of the overlap.
>>57980535There's a decent chance for Plusle to become the new top raw ingredient producer (behind Vaporeon). Ironically they probably aren't a good fit for a Raikou team since Raikou doesn't care about abilities at all. Then again, having a Plusle might be more useful than a Dedenne or Jolteon.
>>57981042Definately berries or skill. I was thinking skill though, but it seems unlikely with the addition of Plusle/Minum which sound more like they're gonna be skill type and the low amount of berry users for each (sub)type.
>>57979454you don't need to rely on a particular ingredient
>>57979479perfect for a range of dishes thanks to having a range of ingredients. not matter what sort of dishes you get for a week, it'll gather something relevant. particularly relevant for upccoming expert mode

>>57981613It's not though, you're always better of with only one or two ingredients, never three because you will never get enough of the one you need at that specific occasion.

Think a pure electric team of 3 Plusle/Minun, Pawmot and Raikou will be good? Not sure what the ingredient pool will be like for the new rodents. Kinda wish they would stop making starters switch types upon evolution, but maybe it suits their longterm plans. Too bad they couldn't just balance the game around dual-type support from the start.
>>57982211We don't know how they perform on paper yet, so it's too soon to call.
However, a Plusle and Minun pair with Pawmot, Raichu, and Raikou would probably be the more effective team, since there's no benefit to running a duplicate Plusle/Minun for the Plus/Minus main skills, and Helper Boost needs 4 unique electric types.
It might turn out that Dedenne is far superior to Plusle/Minun, and the specific need to run both puts them at a big disadvantage.
>>57982448Didn't know you can't stack species for Raikou boost. The way the Plusle/Minun description sounded to me was that it can proc and benefit from any other Plusle/Minun on the team. I could've misunderstood it.
>>57982448>>57982901The descriptions for Plusle and Minun's abilities say "one or more other Pokemon on the team with the Plus or Minus main skill", so it does work with 2 Plusle, 2 Minun, or 1 Plusle & 1 Minun, but anything past that is just redundant instead of additive. And the point of running Raikou is for its skill, which multiplies best for berry or ingredient types.
>>57981042>>57981056I wouldn't be surprised if the Hoenn starters all end up with some variation of Charge Strength. It would basically be the same as the Johto starters if they're also berry specialists, but the type divergence on evolution would probably make them versatile enough on the right islands.
>>57981823>good luck on expert mode with your mono potato meowscarada when you get dark+dessertsyeah getting a bunch of potatoes and ginger when all I want is milk is sooo worth the berry strength!
I've been playing just shy of one month so far.
I've caught one shiny.
I also have no idea what I'm doing.
>>57983292You probably won't feel like you're in any stride until at least a few months in. Of course most of the game is just RNG, so it's not like it matters all that much how you play, just so long as you don't waste too many of your resources.
>>57983631I've got a goal in mind, and it's part of my quest to get a shiny gardevoir in every Pokemon game. I'm guessing I should be hitting that target in about... three years.
>>57982949Yeah, for the Raikou team I've gotten lucky with viable BFS Dedenne and Pawmo, but not on the Raikou itself.
Unless nature mints are introduced, in which case I'd actually have a perfect Raikou.
>>57982985Blaziken and Swampert have a problem though. The islands they specialise on, already have specific set-ups with Entei or Cresselia, or barring that you can get a really good grass type team rolling on Lapis Lakeside.
Swampert does at least address the serious lack of ground types so far.
>>57983747In that case, your goal should be to reach Lapis Lakeside asap and go there every week for the chance of finding a shiny Ralts. I've had one before, and the shiny rates in this game are surprisingly generous. They're also a guaranteed befriend with any biscuit.
>>57984004>already have specific set-ups with Entei or CresseliaI think most people don't have a good legendary pokemon let alone a team to go with it. From what I have experienced the game has enough rng to justify using sidegrades or even slight downgrades.
Ofc this doesn't hold if you are trying to calculate the best possible setups in theory, but I don't see the point of doing that other than measuring how close your actual mons are to perfection
>when honchkrow hits you with that 40k dreamshard
>>57984868what are the chances for that?
>>57984592I think what I meant is that Swampert and Blaziken lack any type synergies with potential end game teams, unless new legendary Pokémon get added.
For non-legendary teams, they might be great though.
For long term players that participated in the past legendary events, there's a good chance that they won't run non-water types at Cyan Beach, non-fire types at Taupe Hollow, or non-electric types at OGPP.
Cresselia at Lapis Lakeside is another matter, since psychic types outside of Espeon and Gardevoir don't have much going for them, and grass types are pretty strong.
>>57985026Legendary dogs aren't even that good compared to a regular on-type gathering team. And I very much doubt the devs care about enabling optimal legendary/mythical teams over decent type distribution.
Wow charizard has one of the lowest skill proc rates in the game, I was wondering why my skill trigger m guy never procs. It’s almost a wasted skill slot at that point.

>>57984952The gathered data suggests something between 1% and 5%.
But not many people have bothered to collect data, so sample sizes are small.
>>57985766Skill Trigger really doesn't do much for most Pokemon, but at least it's better than many of the alternatives. Most of the other non-skill type Pokemon that trigger more than once a day have low-impact skills like static Charge Strength or Charge Energy, so the higher impact skill, the lower the chances.

Wonder if the eureka seed means they're playing with a broader concept for rerolls. I hope that, if they adopt this as a model, they will go one of two routes:
>Keep them expensive and sparse similar to the current Darkrai seed, but also let you pick what the ingredient or skill will change to
>Rerolls are random, but seeds for most monsters are relatively cheap and plentiful
As it stands, Darkrai seeds are basically 4,000 sleep points (which sucks balls for free players) if you want to guarantee getting them every new moon and you don't even get a choice of what is changed or unlocked in the matter.

how soon do we throw in the towel, bros.
>>57987745It does feel more likely that we'll get a random reroll for nature mints, rather than specific control.
Alternatively, if there's a method of receiving nature mints, you don't have control over which mints you receive. My basic idea was a mint farming mini-game where you invest dream shards, and your sleep data and maybe team formation influences the results.
One of the reasons they might go for random nature rolls, is that EXP boosting natures would be useful to apply temporarily, dump all your candies in, and change to the actual nature you want it to have.
However, the Darkrai Eureka Seeds rerolls suggests they might not do that, because if you don't like the result of the reroll you can reject it for +40 candies sintead.
>>57986918>>57987971Sorry to say, but Meowscarda is generally just disappointing for gathering any sort of ingredient. Mine is similar with Ingredient M/S and Helping speed nature/sub, but it's still not very reliable.
how can such a benign event suck so much
>>57987142Yes. That's why this game legitimately sucks. I wish there was a way to just use the alarm features and not deal with the sctual game at this point.
>>57989647Honestly, the worst thing is the amount of 2nd stage starters that spawn.
>>57990158That's the only thing though.
>>57989647Bigger cooking pot events are kinda annoying, I've been struggling to make dishes this week because of misfortune with low ingredient gathering and low skill triggers on my Wiggly.
At least the 2nd anniversary event proper has better bonuses like 1.5x skill triggers and research candies on week 1, then 1.5x strength dishes and mini-candy boost on week 2.
>>579901582nd stage and fully evolved spawns are good for earning candies, dream shards, and research EXP. Plus it's necessary for actually researching new sleep styles, I finally got 4 star Meowscarada today.
With the recent fix to inventory that it applies to all evolution stages regardless of how it was befriended, there's less of a penalty too.
The part that sucks is befriending them due to how many pips they need (and the reduced main skill levels), but every now and then you get lucky and you get something like an easy to befriend 2nd stager.
A weird trend I've noticed is that 2nd or 3rd stage starters tend to have more viable rolls than the 1st stagers I keep aiming for.
I got a viable shiny Venusaur for honey, strong Skeledirge for apples, and just today a viable shiny Quaxwell for beans. For a lack of ingredient finding, the sheer helping speed with Helping Bonus over-compensates. I'll boost it to level 30 Quaquavel next time I get a use candies mission.

>>579902773.2m strength on day 1? I don't see that happening without preparing a berry bomb and going hard on cooking and helper whistles.
Which is to say, you're too late to start a berry bomb if you hadn't already.
It would also be an utterly pointless exercise. It's fucking Green Grass, and DP is just eligibility for the chance to get good rolls, it doesn't increase your favorable odds.
>>57990191nah i'll keep going to OGPP to try for grubbins
I need a coffee farmer urgently
>>57990432Keep a close eye on the new Pokémon details on Monday morning then.
Make an informed decision before you pick your island, any of the new Pokémon might gather coffee, might be ingredient specialists. Mudkip strikes me as a potential coffee gatherer.
I got lucky early on with my BFS IFM+Modest Grubbin, it's an important endeavour.
God I really fucking hope none of the new mons gather fucking sausages. They keep throwing this ingredient on new helpers lately.
>>57990187But the paradox is, if I'm not getting good 1st stage pokemon that only need 5 pips, I'm not rolling for their evolved forms.
And having 3000 candy for a pokemon doesn't help if I don't have a pokemon to dump them on.
Datamine for the new mons came out, plusle and minun are both 10 pips, nice change of pace and not as egregious as 16
Mudkip and torchic have inventories of 11 and 12 respectively, while treecko only has 8. Usually berry mons have higher base inventories to account for their more plentiful drops, so treecko may end up being a skill mon. Maybe our new extra tasty mon?

>>57990191>absolutely nothing on Snowdroplmao
Snowdrop was a mistake.
>>57990627Interesting if the Hoenn starters end up being the first skill specialist starters.
I can't see how they'd justify Plusle and Minun as 16 pips so glad they didn't do that. Any hungry encounter is a guaranteed friendship with just the bonus biscuit, and a poké biscuit if you don't play premium.
>>57990585You can work on both, you seek out the thing that needs the candies, whilst earning the candies.
3000 candy is hyperbole anyway, you're more likely to have 500-1000, maybe 1500-2000 tops for any given species you've not yet invested into.
>>57990627Inventories sizes aren't really consistent at all except that they just gets bigger with each stage of evolution. All 3rd stage Pokemon end up having around 30 spaces at the end of the day. A bigger trend is that faster Pokemon tend to have larger inventories, but even that's not wholly definitive.

>>57991595No, and I doubt it would be for a while. Given the current spread of Pokemon, there's not too much demand for Rock types.
>>57991854At least the first one is pretty legit for Snowdrop (lmao) or maybe expert mode since BFS Tyranitar is pretty legit.
Yep, I think I'm officially done with this. The alarm features have been nice, but the "game" itself is just an annoyance that I've been more and more apathetic about keeping track of over the last few months. I wish there was a feature to just use the alarm clock, especially with the adaptive timer feature, but oh well.
>>57991924I wish it had a nature at least. I don't really need beans, but I would take the hit to overall production if it was pushed a bit more. It's actually crazy how many of my Larvitars are ABA. I don't think I've even seen one with sausage yet (not that I need it).

I'd keep looking IMO.
>>57990191What is dream gift?
Looks like the initial calculations are in and unsurprisingly, Hoenn starters are pretty good.
Here are some direct comparisons of their abilities with their closest analogues. Interesting they decided to split gathering types, but Sceptile's ability still gives it a berry focus.
>Sceptile
Strong, as all Berry Burst Pokemon are. Compared to Mimikyu, they actually have similar activation rates, but even though Mimikyu can crit, Sceptile has much stronger ingredients and base berry.
>Blaziken
Surprisingly strong berry farmer due to its lower ingredient finding rate, but the calculations are affected by its Charge Energy skill. Given the both of them having max energy, Typhlosion should have an edge over Blaziken in raw berry gathering.
>Swampert
This one is a bit trickier to evaluate because Tasty Chance is actually a pretty strong skill. It still gathers more berries than Marowak, but a lot of its sheer gathering power is offset by the potential of its skill. For additional reference, a top Dedenne triggers about 6 times/day.
All are worth pursuing, but Sceptile is the top dog of this generation, and its ability will scale strongly until the end of the game.
Greengrass rerolls this morning were rough.
>1st. Flying / Dragon / Ground
>2nd. Flying / Ghost / Ground
>3rd. Steel / Rock / Psychic
>4th. Ghost / Electric / Fighting
This one ended up being ideal because it's basically the best parts of my OGPP and LL teams.
I'm also critically low on ingredients after last week's cooking pot bonus, but at least I hit Master 15 at OGPP for the first time because of it.
There's fuck-all salads I can cook this morning, and it's been actual months since I last had them and forgot I'm not well equipped for them. Best I can hope to do is regular Calm Mind Fruit Salads.
I have Vaporeon on right now because of the 1.5x skill trigger bonus, but I'm probably going to need to use some ingredient tickets.
Oh also the new photo mode thing is pretty nice, it lets you take a full size screenshot of your campsite during research or the day. It even gives you full control over watermarking and size/dimensions.
>>57998549Was lucky, went Fire, Fighting and Rock to Grass, Water and Fighting
>>57998550I could work with either of those.
I have a great Entei team, great Suicune team, and great Lapis team (BFS Meganium / Victreebel / Bewear).
I feel like few players have good options for things like ground and rock in particular. Steel, dragon, flying, and psychic have at least turned around with the introduction of things like Steelix, Aggron, Dragonite, Braviary, and Cresselia.
Probably gonna go GG since it has all of them, and just the base forms this week. Here's hoping I get a good roll.
>>57998860>Curries with Dragon/Water/FlyingI think I can roll with this. Dream Eater Curry, using Blastoise and Cramorant works well.
where do I even go this week?
>>57998943Pretty much just GG if you want to maximise your Hoenn encounters.
Absolutely not Snowdrop there's literally nothing happening there.
See
>>57990191
>>57998549Fairy/Poison/Bug for me. Not the best but I guess it's a week to play around.
>>57998433I'm really impressed with the ingredient spreads given to the starters. I know most run pure Fire on Taupe, but Swampert is another milk gatherer for players that don't have a good Flareon and too new to have Entei. Sceptile will definitely be a staple for Lake teams. Typhlosion also seems to have a higher base help speed than Blaziken if I'm reading properly, so even with the type divergence you're right that Typhlosion would be a better bet.
>>57998044hmmm so I don't really have to worry about any of these. I'll try for BFS but I don't see myself trying that hard.
Will probably hunt for a minun at most.
>>57998549Coincidentally, I also got dragon/flying/ground, but I got desserts. Not rerolling anymore, just going to accept that GG is cursed and the game is bullshit.

Oh yeah, since nobody looked into Plusle & Minun yet, here's a spread.
>Plusle
An ingredient powerhouse provided it's with another Plusle or Minun, but without that, it puts out 3/4 of the normal version. 300+ ingredients from a single source (or shared I guess, since you need 2) should safely top off your pot and rebuild any stockpiles you've been dipping into. If you somehow had 2, that would be far past overkill.
>Minun
Has basically no gathering power, so it's all in the pot size increase skill. This only really matters so that you can produce the highest quantity recipes, but that can equate to 50K+ per meal provided you have all the correct ingredients. At 10x per day, you can average at least 2 activations per meal, putting you at 69+24+24=117 pot size, easily enough to handle current and future largest meals. Its secondary ability should be rather decent given its activation rate, though randomness means it won't completely replace a regular E4E battery.
Both need large investments, but are INCREDIBLY strong. Activation rates put them on par with Vaporeon and Magnezone respectively, though you do need both Plusle and Minun on a team to see the benefits over either.
>>57999338Yeah, a huge investment as you say, but it sounds like a huge payoff.
The reliability on the other hand is another thing, having a lot of ingredients is sometimes nothing more than pot-filler and doesn't actually help make recipes. Vaporeon is risky for that reason, but having two Plusle going wild with ingredient gathering could address that.
>>57981712>barelythat larvitar should have been candy as soon as you saw it
>>57999338Oh, I forgot the way that Plus works. At level 7, it's picking up 6x3 random ingredients, then the other bonus 12 ingredients are all Coffee. So Plusle is actually a very formidable Coffee farmer, beating out Vikavolt ON TOP of getting other ingredients. So it's actually a little worse at making most meals with any consistency because half of its output is actually Coffee.
>>57999210The numbers game should mean being able to roll for at least one viable berry, but probabilities sometimes sticks you.
My most viable berries are Electric, Water, Fire, Grass. Those are the ones I could manage if I only got one of them.
Semi-viable are Ice, Fighting, Ghost, Dark, since I have some BFS ingredient specialists.
So, my final roll of Electric / Ghost / Fighting ends up being surprisingly good, but with the 1.5x main skill trigger bonus this would I would've maybe been better off with Water or Fire for my Suicune or Entei teams.
On the other hand, my BFS Dedenne.
>>57999764This happens every event. My best pokemon are water and electric because I can't blow the ghost of RNGesus to get any decent pokemon of any other types. If rerolling guaranteed to not hit the shit types you're trying to get away from, then maybe I'd be more optimistic. But this game is top shelf dogshit
>>57999716so that means I can just stop hunting for grubbins?
or do I need to get both a minun and plusle to get a good amount of coffee?
>>57999999we can't have fun GETs anymore
>>57999999The skill bonus only works if you use both (or a dupe) in your team.

How the fuck can you bake this shit when you’re not allowed to carry more than 100 at a time?
Roll with tickets??
Wew, not bad.
>>58000170You know you can increase your Ingredient bag capacity, right? Not to be confused with your Item bag capacity.
>>57999716The downside to Plusle is that you have to run it with another Plusle/Minun in order to get all that extra coffee. A level 7 Plusle + level 1 Plusle will gather about 20% more coffee and about the same amount of random ingredients compared to a Vikavolt + level 7 Vaporeon. This is the closest comparison, but if I'm focused on making a coffee dish I would rather use that Vaporeon slot for another ingredient mon or Dedenne and get more overall value. Could still be worth it if you stumble into a good one (or two), but the main skill seeds are a huge investment that I'd probably rather invest elsewhere.

farewell, day 1 anon.
>Jolteon
>Plusle
>Minun
>Pawmot
>Raikou
This is probably the strongest team to push high power on OGPP, just need desert week and the right ingredient spread to spam Clodsire Eclairs
>>58001432>an entire team of skill types AND RaikouThis is unironically the weakest full-Electric team you could run at OGPP
>>58001432Why Jolteon and not Raichu?
Otherwise, the Plusle/Minun combo probably would allow you to make Clodsire Éclairs pretty regularly at least with a good stockpile, but double Plusle would be better if you're running a good camp ticket or if the event has a cooking pot size bonus.
For the time it might take to find and set up a good Plusle and Minun, the game may have progressed too such as new maximum cooking pot sizes.
>>58001459It gets all the right ingredients for the strongest dessert, has max energy pretty much all the time, and if you have berry finding S on them too they get assloads of berries.
>>58001534Raichu has a worse skill, and 3 berries vs 2 isn't that much better. Yeah if neither has Berry Finding S Raichu is better. Also double Plusle while having better ingredients nerfs Raikou.
>>58001537Ah, right because Jolteon and Pawmot can gather Milk and Cacao, two of the key ingredients for the Éclairs, whilst Plusle and Minun gather coffee and honey.
Raikou's Helper Boost is arguably better suited to BFS berry specialists, so for a strategy focused on ingredient gathering and cooking without dedicated ingredient gatherers, it might be better to run Dedenne to try for extra tasty chances.
Realistically, a team like this might only be able to muster a single Clodsire Éclair a day though, maybe two. Ingredient magnet will help gather a lot of filler, but of the three ingredients gathered, each only has a 4 out of 17/16/15 chance of it being an Éclair ingredient.

Hungry Plusle and one-and-done Torchic? Don't mind if I do!
>>58002086That is a fine fuckin' Torchic.
>>58002147If it's male it's candy.
>>58002147This is the first berry-type Pokemon I have with BFS and Helping Bonus on it. It only took 2 years.
>>58002629Mine was a Chikorita, though at 10 and 25.
Level 75 is a long ways off, we'll see if the level cap even goes that high this year.
>>58002086I also got a first try bfs torchic but it's helping speed down energy up
still might use it tho, it has no ingredient skills
>>58003107That sounds fine, energy penalties are seriously negligible in sleep if you're running an E4E helper.
If it happens to have an Energy Recovery Bonus gold subskill, that negates the nature penalty entirely.
>>58002998I'm sure it'll be at least until next year when they decide to unlock 75. And it'll take even longer than that to scrounge up enough EXP/candies to even get there. Even just getting to 65 is a pretty steep investment. It could very well be over 2,000 candies and 2 million shards to go from 60 to 75.
>>58003162>energy penalties"it's helping speed down energy up"
you're tired anon, get some better sleep
>+Skill chance Treecko
>BFS not until level 100
You're really funny
I don't think this is useful even if just to grab a few extra corn to top off a recipe...
>>58004639But Sceptile doesn't even need BFS
>>58005227An analysis I saw indicated that Sceptile 100% needs BFS, and ironically benefits from a skill chance down nature (due to how pity procs work for skill specialists).
>>58005234Show your work. For that to make any sense at all, you would have to be running it as a makeshift farmer with 0 skill seeds in it rather than its intended purpose of berry bukkake machine.
>>58005234It doesn't benefit from Skill down, negative nature just doesn't hurt it as much as other Skill mons. But you're right that you want BFS and a lot of speed.
>>58005300Not my work, but here.
https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonSleep/comments/1m0b61j/a_comprehensive_breakdown_of_sceptile_a_berry_mon/
>Tl;Dr-Sceptile, despite being a skills mon in mechanics, functions best if you treat it in every way like a berry specialist. It has some potential power as a late game generalist, but it has a much stronger potential if treated like a berry specialist when looking for subskills, to the point that a speed up, skill down nature is actually a net positive nature, and BFS is practically essential
>>58005434Maximum skill edges out over BFS. Of course a small portion of Berry Burst is reliant on your other team members' types, so a skill-focused one is swayed more by that.
I did a separate comparison and at the absolute maximum: BFS + Helping Speed M + Skill Trigger M, Skill up nature beats Speed up nature until Helping Bonus maxes out their speed.
I suppose what's more interesting is that BFS Sceptile can almost beat a BFS Meganium in raw berry production (not counting its skill).
Think this might be useful? No BFS but as far as I can tell Swampert is pretty competitive with Dedenne and outpaces Cramorant as far as skill procs go.
I'm thinking of boosting it to 30 and leaving it in my party and try to get some extra tasty procs.
I don't have any Dedennes atm.
>>58005513Keep in mind your team formation here doesn't have any energy support, so it's not at consistent peak energy. You've also not got a fifth helper on this team (unless you've cropped it), in which case max skill would be stronger.
I usually throw an E4E Wiggly on my team analysis to see something best performs.
I suppose Sceptile's sheer speed is why they had to make it a skill specialist instead of berry, it would've been too strong otherwise.
Other very fast starters like Greninja will possibly also avoid being berry specialists for that reason.
>>58005550Rule of thumb is that skill trigger boosts on anything other than a skill specialist are actually not all that useful, but it does depend on their base skill trigger rate.
Swampert's is only 3.4%, however that's apparently good enough that your Swampert with a 7.87% trigger rate might expect to proc 5 or 6 times a day? Keeping in mind that it can't double-stack the skill proc like skill specialists.
>>58005636This is in Production Comparison, not Team Comparison, so each Pokemon listed can be compared in a vacuum. The Berry Burst calculations in this screen just assumes the skill gathers only the same type berry to simplify it. In reality, each activation delivers 30 of the same type berry, then another 5 per each other member... so I guess you could actually call that pretty significant considering it's almost half the skill. Grass berries are also on the higher end of base power among all types.
>>58005661Is that so? I'd totally overlooked the Production Comparison section at Raenonx.
>>58003107well I waited and my second torchic was a female with BFS and both helping speeds so I'm glad I waited. Don't care about the gender but it's nice to have something rare
3 down...
