>defeat
In nature you only need to dissuade a predator to make it believe that the full belly isn't worth the potential injuries.

>Baleen Whale
>Whalrus
Who's the predator here? The baleen whale is a filter feeder of small shrimp, and while the walrus is technically a carnivore, those tusks evolved to dig out crustaceans, mollusks, and sea cucumbers embedded in rocks. The little meat it eats is when it luckily catches a fish, a bird, or carrion, because its tusks get in the way of a predatory bite.

It's not a predator/prey relationship, Cetitan and Walrein favor the same resting spots and territorial fights ensue as a result

To be honest, Pyroar is just scaring it off. Using the example of real animals, Hydreigon is weighing its chances of defeating three adults in order to devour a cub. Now that the surprise attack is lost, the normal thing would be for it to retreat and look for other prey.

And no, I'm not defending Hydreigon. The idiot could continue and become the prey himself. In nature, the real winner is the one who lives another day to try again.
