If I play a new SMT I don't expect to carry over all my demons from the previous game or for it to have every demon available from previous games. If I play a new Final Fantasy I don't expect to carry over all my previous party members or think all the old ones will be there. If I play a new Souls game I don't expect all of my gear from the previous Souls games to carry over or be there. Why do Pokemon fans lose their fucking minds when they don't get to have all their old Pokemon?

They need to make a decision with pokemon either you can transfer or you cant. why bother half assing it

SMT is the only monster taming game there and the big way Pokemon set itself apart from SMT is that you can catch all the Pokemon but only if you transfer them between games to make it work.

Because the Pokemon games aren't necessarily just games, they're a service - a program that allows you to interface with the world of Pokemon and each new release is like a new edition of a tabletop game.
Obviously the games come with story modes and such but that's some obvious tutorializing of the main mechanics to get you set to go for the loop of playing the post-game, raising your Pokemon for online battling, and a big reason why this dynamic worked was because you could update your Pokemon to the newest games and have it retain its progress and what you'd accomplished with it from ever since you first got it.
Arbitrarily cutting out mons is a slap in the face because it'd be like if Yu-Gi-Oh released a new Master Rule Edition and said "ok half the GX and 5D's themed decks are banned, also you can only use Link monsters no other types of special summoning"
You can see how that'd be awful for people who have been building their card collection from the start.

Because Pokemon set that expectation by allowing trades between gen 1 and 2 and letting you transfer up each gen starting with 3. When you remove or greatly reduce a feature that has been there for 20 years it's not surprising people get angry about it.
