And in Masters he doesn't have any of the starters

Nate with Samurott, Hugh with Emboar and Rosa with Serperior feels the most canon but that's not how the matchup works so Nate with Emboar is the next best thing.

I think they only did this cause he was the third Gen 5 protagonist to get a statue so they took the opportunity to get Oshawott in.
It's not like they keep it consistent within the same character anyway.
