You don't hate Fairy Type for any valid, legitimate reasons. You only hate it performatively. Exaggeratedly. Because you are insecure about your fragile and inadequate masculinity. To the point: Anything which "seems gay" to you triggers a panic response in your reactionary brain, making you freak out like it's some kind of threat to you personally. Everyone must know YOU'RE not gay, YOU'RE not soft. So you feel compelled to do this whole song and dance of aggressively denouncing any association with things that are girly, pink, and cute.

You attack Fairy Type because it represents all that is feminine and tender, and you're (ironically) not a strong enough man to show open vulnerability, compassion, or gentleness. Like a real man does.

I hate it because it was a bad solution to a problem that only really affected doubles. It buffed steel the real strongest type, It did very little to buff poison because poison is in direct competition with steel for the role of fairy counter, It was a defacto nerf to ice by beating dragons better, and it unfairly nerfed weaker dragons and even Hydreigon who now has a quad weakness in addition to its already fatal flaw of being pitifully slow for an OU glass cannon. Landorus had a crazy high usage rate in gen 6 OU proving my suspicions that simply making good ice sweepers would have been the better call. Replace every fairy type with an ice type that has its Special Defense and speed swapped if the Special Defense is higher and you get a much better game.

There are three main reasons I dislike the Fairy type.
1. it is only present in the games I do not like to play
2. it's completely incongruous with the other types thematically - fairies don't exist, why would it be a type? Did they just want a catch-all term for non-elemental magic? Why not make it the Magic type then?
3. all the once Normal type Pokemon who became mono Fairy rather than Normal/Fairy and lost their Normal STAB

I think it's too much of a slippery slope.
I already think dragon is kind of a weird type but I can accept it since it's one of the first and they can't change it now, but why add Fairy?
What's next are we gonna get the Dwarf type? Elf type? Goblin type?
All of these are about as valid as Fairy.

>heals people
>being a guardian of something (surprisingly consistent)
>the moon
>becomes autistic and freaks out when one specific rule they care about is violated, like many old fae tales
>sweetness (sweet taste, smells, etc, to thematically convey their "sweet" personality)
>is an actual literal fairy/sprite/leprechaun/gnome/pixie etc
>is traditional fairytale/fantasy creature, mermaid goblin unicorn etc
>love/heart/compassion
>purity/angelic-ness
>blessings/good fortune

And before you SAY SHIT because I know you're about to: no, the fact I listed a lot of things just now does NOT prove your point about Fairy Types being inconsistent. Fairy Types are MANY things but they CONSISTENTLY represent each of those many things, so yes they are fucking consistent. Fairy is one of the most thematically rich Types we fucking have

You wanna talk "incoherent"? What the fuck does Dark Type have, huh? "I cheat to win". Real fucking deep thematic ties there, thanks Dark Type. Fuck off

Not any of those anons, but it sounds like you have a hilarious sore spot in the fairy type. What makes the Mr. Mime, Ralts, Marill, and Snubbull lines fairy-like?

Dark types can be nocturnal creatures or put emphasis on their sinister, cunniving, or more violent natures. I don't need a laundry list to cover all of them.

At the time, it had been over a decade since the last type was introduced with steel and dark in gen 2, so it was on the face of it a huge change. My thought back in 2012 or so when it was announced was that I was unsure of how it would function thematically,
Of the new pokemon in X and Y, they introduced only 4 fairy type families with 2 legendaries, sylveon and some retroactive type changes alongside, as well as a couple of megas.
As far as the new pokemon with fairy, we had:
>Florges
>Aromatisse
>Slurpuff
>Sylveon
>Carbink
>Xerneas
>Diancie

I know I'm speaking subjectively, but I wasn't thoroughly impressed with the new mons.
Ultimately I think fairy was a fine addition, but the introduction wasn't quite what it could have been.

Steel literally never did anything wrong. I don't understand the unhinged desire to persecute steel that some faggots have. The nerf of losing 2 resistances was entirely unwarranted.

>The nerf of losing 2 resistances was entirely unwarranted.
Steel started off as the anti-bullshit type in the early gens resisting everything but being a dead slot offensively. However it started skirting the line into bullshit territory when steel types started getting usable offensive options and strong users of those options. Not helping is shit like DragMag that was only possible because of Steel, despite the Dragon half was the actually bad guy there.
Had it gained a new punching for bullet punch WITHOUT losing 2 resistances it absolutely would be bullshit, but as is its still a great but fair type, especially since everything worth using has super effective options against it to keep steel honest. Though its arguable that half the game getting earthquake and close combat is a problem in on itself.

I can see why the devs might feel aprehensive about throwing in loads of Pokemon of a newly introduced type simply because you can never know how it'll shake up the meta, and it also doesn't do the dex any good to put all the eggs in that basket, especially for a selection as small as Kalos's.

Ghost is arguably better than Water. Fairy absolutely isn’t. The thing a lot of retards forget is that Fairy moves are relatively weak. Their best special move has only 95 BP and their best physical move is 90 BP and does nothing 10% of the time. Meanwhile Water-type Pokemon are able to spam shit like rain boosted Wave Crashes.

no

-most common type, so plenty of strong mons for every niche. it's not locked into a stereotype of mostly bulky slow mons like steel or ice, there's great options for any role.
-scald exists
-rain boosts water, flying and electric moves. sun only boosts fire, ice only boosts ice and sand doesn't boost anything offensively
-hydro steam exists; water move boosted in sun. there's no parallel for any other type having moves boosted by opposite weather afaik
-resists steel, fire, water and ice
-super effective against ground, rock and fire
-resisted only by grass, dragon and itself, however, almost every water type knows a strong ice move, and there plenty of strong dual types to choose from (in fact, every single possible combination with water type already exists)
-grass, the expected counter to water is honestly kind of a bad type. so that kind of boosts water indirectly. aside from ice, infinite accuracy hurricane makes short work of grass types, and is widely distributed among water type
i could go on, but basically a bunch of factors combined mean that water punches far above its weight

I genuinely don't focus on types good/bad. Pokemon are a complete package of their typing/abilities/moves.
Whether a mon is good or bad is often situational unless their support is indispensable or they're so powerful that they can be good in nearly every board state.
