If a pokemon with mold breaker tries to for example toxic a levitate mon under misty terrain, the move will fail because mold breaker will negate levitate and the target will be considered grounded for the duration of the move (thus affected by terrains)

Pursuit hitting a mom switching out ignores paralysis, confusion, infatuation, and every other effect that can make a move fail except for sleep, freeze and truant being on a slacking off turn, all of which will prevent pursuit from targeting the switching out mon no matter what, even if the users wakes up or thaws out on the same turn (it will just use normal pursuit)

You can leave viridan forest in red and blue with a level 100 nidoking by getting poisoned and your mon fainting right as you walk in front of the last dude. I forget the specifics of the glitch but it's doable

There’s a bug in gen 3 where moves like thief if trick don’t unset the knocked off bit from a mon that gets an item through them. Because of this if a mon gets its item knocked off, gets a new one, switches out then switches back in, it will have no item again, since the knocked off bit disables its item on switch in.
This only happens in link battles and battle facility battles, because in regular gameplay item stealing effects fail if the user is knocked off, presumably to prevent the player from permanently losing items

The way gen 3 checks for a move being a sound move isn’t with a flag for some reason even though it uses these for other purposes, instead it has a hard coded list of moves that are considered sound moves, and every time a move is used it goes through this list to compare the moves in it to the current move, and if there’s a match it will apply sound move effects (which in gen 3 I think is only the fact that they’re blocked by soundproof)
The AI actually has its own separate list that it uses to discourage sound moves if you have soundproof, its list is meant to be identical to the one the battle mechanics use except it’s not, for sone reason Hyper Voice is missing from it. As a result the AI in gen 3 doesn’t know Hyper Voice is a sound move and will not discourage it against soundproof mons

In gen 3, trainer pokemon's natures are derived from their PID like usual, but instead of randomly generated PIDs like wild pokemon, it's made by "namehash"ing the names of the trainer and pokemon together and doing some bit math. It's also why male trainers tend to have male pokemon and vice versa as they bit shift in a value determined by trainer gender

In Rescue Team, if you try to release Latios, you get a special message after confirmation that tells you it's impossible to reobtain. Every other legendary except maybe latias will reappear in the dungeon you got them from if you release them, but since this is a special story recruit, you can't repeat the event you obtained them from.
