Playing Yellow and Crystal Legacy lets you see the Pokemon's DVs and now whenever I catch a party member, I feel the urge to reject anything that doesn't have at least average DVs in the stats I care about.

The odds of finding a mon with at least 7 DVs in each stat in only 6.25% so even this reasonable goal can be time consuming.

Emerald Legacy's IVs are also visible. God help you if you're looking for a rare mon with one of two abilities.

It makes me think of all the times I played the vanilla games completely unaware that I was using mons that had 0 DVs/IVs here and there. It doesn't matter too much in vanilla but Legacy has much better teams and movesets.

Because in a metagame where your goal is to find the strategy with the most all-purpose consistency, your goal is to set your team up as efficiently as possible to net maximum consistency. That extra IV of Speed could unironically make or break your success given how RNG-reliant Pokemon is.
