Jigglypuff lucked out so hard by being a part of the Smash 64 roster because it absolutely did not deserve to be in every single Smash Bros game ever made.

SR is the most active developing mod with the most surrounding interest for it, since it's entirely community driven.

To even get someone interested on making a separate Pokemon-focused mod, they would have to work on SR first considering there's barely any information on how to actually mod the game significantly.

Plus it's been YEARS we had clones this crafty, it's an interesting method but they''re gonna end up doing more on making it look consistent at the end of the day.

Also Sakurai immediately rejected the idea of making Dedede a Kirby just because they'd have similar neutral specials, he would still have to create something extensive for Dedede instead of something minimal for a budget clone like Jiggs.

I think you're missing the point entirely so I'll just put it short on what Smash never fucks up when adapting a character to the Smash gameplay:
Cohesion.

Unfortunately most of these Smash competitors (aside maybe Rivals) don't get the idea right and thinks reference jank and generic attacks (in places where it shouldn't be) a golden ticket to a well-designed moveset.

As casual fun as Smash is this is objectively true, it's a franchise coasting on Mario, Pokemon, Zelda and being the only actual crossover Nintendo's truly had. You couldn't make a Smash clone feel as good to play as Smash because you're missing Mario. If you really wanted a Smash clone that people would be interested in it has to be an IP crossover pukefest with more substance beyond "just the gameplay" because fighting games are dime a dozen to fight each other for attention. If you're doing OCs that's twice the work, regardless of if you're doing a Smash-like or a Streets-like

The IPs are one thing but the quality is a deciding factor. If Nintendo fully entrusted the next Smash bros (without supervision) to the jabronis who made NASB, or even a group of devoted, yet inexperienced meleefags, then it's guaranteed that the end product would be a net flop. The IPs and the graphics are less than half of the replay value in comparison to gameplay. "Sick" tech-heavy theories is good enough to get a cult following but if the only appeal to a game is the 'chore' of getting gud, then it's less of a game than it is FGC bait.

Well good news for you, REX/Remix is basically a sweat-repellent and a tourneyfag nightmare as actual competitive players stucks with their boring vanilla counterpart.

It's just a mugenized Legacy XP/PM that's has a little sense compared to other modpacks like Super Smash Bros Infinite and Kitsu's BrawlEX.

Type Wild is like if Game Freak told Sakurai Nintendo to eff off and they got some ex-ArcSys designers/ex-CPS engineers/ex-SNK artists to work on a official tie-in to the 3rd gen and the Lucario movie.
It's very janky too but one of the best Pokemon fighters fans made until Close Combat came out (2nd best to me, but the creative input and flex is pretty awesome)
