Dragon was meant to be a purposefully overpowered type used only by the endgame trainers and put all on psuedos or legendaries or otherwise rare mons not seen only on a handful of trainers that you have to go out of your way to obtain such as Flygon, Kingdra, or Haxorus. With Gen 6 and the introduction of Fairy type GF made it clear the intention was now not to have types be specialized but rather to have them all be on a somewhat even playing field of effectiveness, yet they fucked that up because it is GF.

As a bugfag I think the best way to buff bug is to create more powerful status moves like quiver dance, tailglow, and sticky web for them and only them. I like the idea of them being weak offensively and defensiveky but having huge potential thanks to their unique options no other type can access.
