I just started watching the second pokemon movie on a shitty piracy site, and it looks like the japanese version with english dialogue overlayed?? of all pokemon movies this is the one i have seen the least so i genuinely don't remember if it was always like this, or if this is a weird edit. does anyone know anything about this? was this one heavily censored or something?

holy shit this was so fucking funny i'm halfway through the movie and one 5 second scene just had japanese dialogue before switching back to english. i think i'll stick with this one. It's hilarious.

Some of the more recent fansubbers have created altered dub tracks to overlay with the Japanese footage, at least for the first two movies, so you have a true bilingual version. Most 4Kids versions of anything have at least minor cuts or changes to scene timing that prevent you from overlaying the Japanese dialogue 1:1 so it was neat to see. I don't remember if they went past the first two, the current version linked in the anime thread is only Japanese VA.

it wasn't just that one tho, the one i was talking about was right before it where oak was explaining something in the company of ash's mom and professor ivy, it jumped to japanese for 2 or 3 lines then went straight back.

Oh yeah, that one was trimmed to, I had forgotten. There aren't that many of those kinds of cuts but if you see the switch then that must be one of them.
