I think bug dragon fits thematically, but when we do get bug dragon, I want it to be good. Not a shitmon. I think with compound eyes, a bug dragon could be great with a bunch of powerful but innacurate attacks. Mega horn, dragon rush, stone edge, and iron tail/gunk shot for fairy coverage.

Ground/Dragon. Just make Levitate an innate ability for Dragon and Ghost like Flying type, freeing up the Ability slot. Giving it a good/unique Ability is the only real way it's ever going to find a niche to compete with Garchomp without reworking its stats or move set.

are you on meth? Earth Power+Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse kills pretty much everything if you have 105 special attack. Blissey can't even thunder wave you. I think this would just be a better Volcarona as it doesn't give a shit about hazards and can run it's own item and wouldn't need to tera except defensively.

Bug / Ground makes by far the most sense
It's the sand spirit pokemon
It evolves from an antlion
It's also the most kino typing, bug/dragon is gay and dragon/ground is cucked by chomp

Trapinch
>Trapinch appears to be based on the larval stage of the antlion, which live in conical sandy pits before maturing into winged adults. Its head resembles a cartoonish depiction of foothold traps.
Vibrava
>Vibrava appears to be based on the adult stage of an antlion, though it seems to draw more visual inspiration from mayflies, possibly nodding to the Japanese word for an adult antlion, usuba-kagerou, or "thin-winged mayfly". Combined with an antlion's resemblance to a dragonfly, Vibrava's typing suggests that it may also draw inspiration from sanddragons. Its tendency to create harsh noises with its wings is similar to that of a cicada.

Gotta keep it how it is, but if I had to choose, Ground Bug is slightly more interesting as it is a fast U-turn user with moderate bulk that can switch in and out a bunch thanks to levitate while Ground is always useful on such a fast mon. I'd much rather have something be walled by flying types than by fairy types.
>>57971034
Ninetales is honestly fine as it is competitively, but Fire/Ghost is really over done by this point and Fire/Psychic (especially on a fox) is wearing a bit thin too. Fairy might be nice and interesting (assuming it at least gets dazzling gleam), though it might end up being too good of a weather setter, though I suppose that'd be in line with it's counterpart.
>>57971165
I do really like the thought of having a ghost and rock type, but I don't think Cofagrigus could pull it off even with Power Gem. Just too many things it's weak to.... but I think Ground is too saturated. So with Steel, we'd be trading in a Poison quad resist into an immunity and one to the condition, a Water weakness for a Fire one, and nothing for the Grass resistance. I'd maybe say Steel, but if access to Stealth Rock is on the table, then Rock may actually win out. It is a fairly good offensive combo though, just not something that'd make it as clear cut as it would be on a different stat spread. So pure Ghost is preferred, but depending on the access to SR, I'd give it to Steel.

Ghost/Psychic is actually a fairly interesting type when you're not slow as shit. Psyshock stuff maybe access to Psychic Noise would all be pretty cool. Flutter Mane but worse, isn't really an interesting concept.
>>57971171
Steel/Fairy is way too good to give up, though obviously Dark/Fairy is a (far) second place.
>>57971174
Nothing is gonna change their absolute shitmons status. However, if we're talking about evolutions, I actually had a concept (before gen 9) about both of them over adapting to each other. Zangoose goes futuristic and cyborg-like becoming Normal/Steel to get an immunity to the Poison attacks. Seviper would seek out ancient arcane knowledge and ascend to a Poison/Ghost to get an immunity to the Normal attacks. Zangoose gets double immunity from Seviper's stabs, but Seviper can always Fire Blast Zangoose to smithereens.

considering there are no actual decent bug/ground pokemon (nincada loses it upon evolution, and wormadame is a shitmon), it sounds like the most interesting type.
Bug/Dragon sounds cool on paper, but the more you think about it, the worse it gets.

Alternatively give its meme mega an ability that is bug stab + levitate combined, so you get your "3 typed" bug Flygon, without losing anything other than your dedicated mega slot.

>sandstorm Pokรฉmon thematically about living in deserts with sandstorm while also whipping up sandstorms
>even comes with its own specially adapted eye goggles so it can see
>takes damage from sandstorms
>but if it's given a thematic ability like sand rush, sand force, or sand veil you faggots would whine because it's not a special snowflake bugiate ability for bug boomburst or compoundeyes
>don't want bug ground because he's not a cool dwagon anymore
Ground dragon but with the compromise that it can have abilities that aren't levitate is the only correct answer

Fire/Ghost easily. Fire/Fairy is really overdone and Ghost fits really well considering Ninetales is based on a kitsune.

Flygon isn't a bug. It doesn't look like a bug, It isn't referred to as a bug in the dex. I agree that Trapinch and Vibrava should be Ground/Bug, but Flygon has evolved away from its bug origins and become a dragon, while retaining its line's affinity for sand. Thus, it should be Ground/Dragon. This is a more interestng progression, where a type that performs well in the early game but typically falters in the late game gets to evolve into a type that typically does well in the late game, rewarding trainers who stuck with a "weak" Bug type without having to fundamentally change the Bug design philosophy.
