Types

>Design-wise
Fire and Electric types are often just animals on fire or yellow.
Fighting and Psychic types tend to be humanoid.
Fairy types are pink and feminine.
Grass has a lot of plant women.
Rock, Steel, and Ice types are bulky and literal - made of stone, metal, or Ice.
Ground are big fat animals or ones that dwell in the ground, except for the ones made out of clay/sand.

>Gameplay-wise
Fire, Fighting, Dragon, Dark: Offensive powerhouses.
Water, Steel, Poison, Rock: Defensive and sturdy.
Bug and Grass: Status-focused or weak, often treated as early-game or filler.
Electric and Flying: Usually fast, with Electric being more special-based and Flying more physical.
Ice is a weird case: offensive type with mostly slow, defensive Pokémon.
Dragon and Ice are late game.

>Move stereotypes
Rock moves are strong but inaccurate, no special moves.
Dark moves often have secondary effects, often physical.
Poison, Electric, Fire and Ice have status effects.
Normal has the largest pool, often generic with sounds sub-theme.
Electric has few physical moves outside of signature ones.

What else did you notice?

>Design-wise

I hate this one because it's stupid that every single chandelier ever possessed by a ghost is the same model. Candles sure, they tend to look alike. But more complex objects being pokémon who are all the same identical object possessed is so fucking retarded.

now that you mentioned it, yeah it feels odd how a lot of objectmons seem to always be the exact same model
when in real life there is no one universal design for anything, and even with an assembly line's products, individual models of something will eventually become distinct whether on purpose or not, from serial numbers to natural wear & tear and everything in between

of course GF is too much of a smarr indie studio prease undastandu so don't expect them to give any mons any kind of cosmetic variance outside of a small handful of examples

Fire/ghost is an overused type combination
No bug pseudo legendaries

>No bug pseudo legendaries
this is on purpose because bug is supposed to be the early game shitmon type, as sad as that makes bug lovers

>What else did you notice?
dark type moves often have gimmicks or similar about bending the rules/playing unfair: foul play uses the target's attack stat, beat up is a multihit using the attack of ALL party members, feint bypasses protection effects, so on so forth

>bug is supposed to be the early game shitmon type
My preferred solution to this is making Bug types immune to entry hazards, since that's really useful but only in competitive.

electric is by far the most boring type both in designs and in gameplay

Because dark is suppose to be representative of deception, it's more an asshole type then an actual evil type like a lot of people seem to think. We even see this with its two original weaknesses, fighting and bug. Fighting and bug are "heroic" types (thank Kamen Rider on that for bug) so tbey both resist each other and beat dark.
