The redpill is that the franchise has weakened in its resolve to create promotable Pokemon and strengthened in its resolve to create promotable trainers ever since Gen 7. Some will say since Gen 5, but that was an unintended consequence of creating a poorly received dex.

Gen 5 had the excuse of the Genwunner backslash. gen8 and 9 should still have recency bias, have powercreep up the ass, and overall get more exposure due to how massive social medial is comparison to the early 90’s. When the only Pokémon that get any notice are the alt forms of Gen 2 and 5 pokemon (you know the two dexs that everyone fucking hates) something has gone very wrong. VERY WRONG
