I think they lend towards more fun fights depending on how well their strategy is executed, so yeah. I think they're some of the most memorable gym battles in their generations, probably due to the novelty of them being Double Battles, though.
And design-wise, double battles can lend towards more creative boss fights, especially with how many Pokemon, abilities and moves they tend to design around Double Battles.
Just don't more goofy shit like Raihan's post-Gym teams.

This. Sudden Death 1 mon only, Double Battle, 3v3 BSS style. It's more memorable and more fun to overcome a challenge like that which isn't anything crazy. They know how to make the game assmad hard with rng so they can also structure teams better for a more interesting gameplay loop.
