Will I be able to transfer my Sword save file from a switch 1 to a Switch 2 with no issue?

Yeah, you can transfer data between Switches like you could between 3DSes

Should I put my shinies in HOME before I do it just to be safe? ive heard that people have gotten their files messed up moving to Switch 2

I would do it to be safe, but I think those instances of peoples' saves being deleted were just due to user error (there was only a couple of reports of it happening around the Switch 2 launch and I don't think there's been any more). There's probably nothing to worry about if you do it right, but might as well be safe

I bought it on release day and I havent taken it out of its box yet. partially because of the anxiety I have of losing shinies ive had for 10-12 years in the transfer process
