Does anyone else feel like Pokémon Go/Pokemon Home/Mass outbreaks/raids have somewhat cheapened the experience? Now everyone has shiny everything, even shiny event pokemon, like wtf? I haven’t played since X and Y, I got back in a few weeks ago with Violet on Switch 2 and it just doesn’t feel right

I like special outbreaks.
I like special raids.
But they really need do more repetition quests.
I want my berry farm back.

They could star introducing rarer variants of shinies but that is entering Gacha Skin territory.

Typically, human beings value things that are rare, but this is Pokemon. The value it has is down to the individual.

But personally I agree that a shiny (or ten obtained from a Community Day is less valuable or special to me than say, the random, unexpected shiny encounter during a mainline playthrough

Shines barely had value by Gen 4

They never had value except maybe gen 5?
>gen 2 Iv related so can be bred for with ease especially if using the gen 1 mimic trick on ditto by transferring back the guaranteed shiny gyrados for a free shiny ditto
>gen 3 & 4 RNG free shiny Pokemon when you like
>gen 5 idk never had a need or interest to go back to it
>gen 6 onwards shiny charms and all sorts of gimmicks to increase shiny odds like radar, chain fishing, dex nax

Yes, but not because shinies are more easily available. I just hate the push for online-based FOMO in a JRPG that should be offline single player first and foremost.
>but mythicals have always been a thing
I didn't like it back then either.
