Blame Fakemon creators for mass producing good designs that GameFreak can no longer use because the artists will go on a "THEY STOLE MY ART!1!!1!" tantrum. Reminder we were supposed to get a Flying Type Eeveelution in gen 7 but GF couldn't add it because it looked too much like some dude's fakemon

I don't think it's filler at all, I just think it's a miss. The prevo Bramblin was nice but Brambleghast shouldn't have had an unfitting smiley face since it doesn't feel like it fits its sinister decrepit design.

It was one of my party members, not particularly good but a bromon nonetheless.
Then again gen II is my favorite generation pokémon design wise since it didn't try to make every pokémon this super cool and special pokémon.

Fillermon flesh out the world and make it feel more alive. If every Pokemon was competitively viable the world would be boring and feel less coherent.

What the fuck are you guys even talking about? every single generation has a shit ton of filler pokemon only because you would end up with only 60+ new designs per region if they didn't add useless shitters like watchog furfrou or oinkologne

BULL-FUCKING-SHIT EXCUSES.

Fan artists do not own concepts/ideas for potential mons, they have virtually no legal/financial leverage against Game Freak in court, and any non-lobotomized individual with one single spark of creativity can make (improved) changes to well-designed fakemon.

Because A) there's only so much time and resources that go into programing new mons and bringing back better mons that shitty new mons like the one we're discussing squanders. B) Its existence represents a glaring lack of standards being enforced. And C) once a growing majority of the mons elicit this reaction, it defeats the entire point of being excited to try the new games when you're told to just use the old mons.

You vastly overestimate how many people would even attempt to raise a shit storm and for the ones that do, how effective they would be in looking sympathetic to the average person.

Everyone with sense would laugh anybody attempting to stir up shit out of the room on the basis that it would be entitlement on a downright cartoonish level for artists to expect to be given jobs, credit in any way, or for Game Freak to deliberately forgo making cool official monsters out of the goodness of the hearts.

Not to mention that plenty of fakemon artists do what they do purely to express the ideas they want to see in Pokémon and any of their ideas that get brought to life officially whether it is purely by coincidence or on purpose is payment enough.
