I tried getting my gf into Pokemon since she already liked Pokemon GO, here are her opinions on each gen.

Looks too old, doesn't want to play as Ash.

Got tired of Barry and Lucas talking so much and trainers fighting her constantly, gave up at Jubilife.

She actually liked this one at first, she liked Bianca and the fact that the girl character was cute, but she got tired of seeing Patrat over and over again and gave up after the first gym.

Got lost and tired of the friends talking so much, gave up after the first gym.
That's all I got out of her so far, maybe she'd like one of the Switch games.
