When it came to Gen1 did you prefer playing Red/Blue or Yellow when you were a kid /vp/?

I'm pretty sure I played a lot more Red/Blue and when I did play yellow I always traded myself in a Raichu as I hated that you could not evolve your Pickahu in Yellow.

I had blue and played through stadium.....
The missingno glitch was essential to get through stadium. There were insane battles, you needed to duplicate the TMS to get through the highest levels.

I didn't play Yellow until recently. I was jealous of my friend who had it but I'm sure now I wouldn't have liked it as much as Red because even as a dumb kind I didn't like the idea of the game being changed to match the anime. Finally playing it as an adult I can appreciate the subtler differences like the remixed encounter tables.

I only played Yellow, I hated the fact that there were so many interesting mons that were missing, like Jynx, Electabuzz and Magmar, and Team Rocket's mons. When I got Silver I was so excited to get Ekans so early lol.

I always did like that if you imported a Pikachu from yellow with either surf or fly into stadium it had unique animations with Pikachu pulling out a surfboard

Raichu also had a unique animation for surf in which it used it's tail as a surfboard but that always felt odd given that means you would have taken a Pikachu from yellow that you did an event to get surf on, then traded it to Red or Blue evolved it on there THEN imported that Raichu into Stadium which always felt a little too over complicated and I doubt there were many legitimate players who did that

They also had this animation in Battle Revolution for the WII if anyone remembers that game

Thankfully that Pikachu was much easier to get as you got a Pikachu with surf holding a light ball for beating the game and you could then import that Pikachu into DP/P and SS/HG which was fun

i didn't like it as a kid because i never cared for the ashnime, i played it recently though and it was pretty good. the differences aren't major ultimately and in return the enemy teams are a lot better.
