I'm playing HGSS and I can't figure out if I want to use Victreebel or Executor.

You get Bellsprout earlier and you can give it the leaf stone shortly after it evolves into Weepinbell. Weepinbell also works as a decent mixed attacker. Victreebel is also faster and learns sludge bomb via TM half way through Johto. However, its special attack stat is mid.

Exeggutor has a very high special attack stat and better bulk. It learns psychic and , dream eater, but it's slow and you won't get it until level 47 if you want it to learn psychic without the use of a TM that's only obtainable in Kanto. Exeggcute also kind of sucks. You just sit there spamming sleep powder, leech seed, and solar beam until level 27. Then you sit there spamming those three moves or confusion.

Not sure which one I want to use. Design-wise, I love them both

Bellsprout is more useful from the get-go, Exegguttor is stronger late game but starts kind of crappy. Question is - is your team good enough for you to afford keeping bunch of fragile eggs in team?

For my team I just have Quilava and Togepi but I plan on getting a Starmie and a Rhyperior as well

Victreebel is both bulkier and cuter, but Exeggutor might cover an important type if u dont have Psychic. Victreebel is more fun to use desu desu

If it's going to be a core team member, just use the Psychic TM on Exeggcute. No reason to save it.

What I mean is, don't wait too long to evolve it. Evolve it at level 27, after it's learned Confusion. Confusion should be 'good enough' to carry you off of Exeggcutor's SpA stat until postgame.

Fair, but if you're using Starmie, I wouldn't use Exeggcutor then. Just use Victreebel. It's a good mon. Limited resources and all that.

If you're definitely going for Starmie, go for Victreebel over Exeggutor, unless you're not bothered by type overlap.
