Your boogyman didn't work at Game Freak until 2007 son. That was Nip Freak's own work.
As to why, just look at the fucking things, small wonder they tried to make people give a fuck about them. No-one gave a shit about them in Gen 1.

he didn't design any of these, obsessed retard. also magnezone is a vast improvement, electivire and tangrowth are still good, both lickitung and lickilicki look like shit, and the only good part of the magmar line is magby. rhyperior does suck major ass i'll give you that one. very notable that you omitted the coolest gen 1 cross gen evo though.

OP likely isn’t include it because it evolves from Porygon 2, a gen 2 Pokémon. Ironically Z probably would make more sense as a branched evolution directly from Porygon but it is what it is.

Not really. Apart from the obvious fact it's a reference to how 3D effects progressed IRL alongside the game's development, file sharing apps were ubiquitous in the 00's and opening a dodgy file from them could nuke your computer (just as the Dubious Disc glitched your pokémon out).

i love both of these mons and i wish they'd do something like have an inuniverse rivalry with them. like say silph co can be putting out porygon products whereas devon corp puts out rotom products. just make the products less like actual smartphones if it'd be too real.

More power to you for liking him but let's not pretend that people don't have good reason for hating him.

Lickitung was clearly meant to be seen as an unsettling Japanese monster with its blank stare (at least in the first couple of seasons in the anime) and disproportionally long and grotesque nonlizard-like tongue despite being a lizard-like creature. Everything I described here is faithfully expanded upon by Lickilicky's beta design which was universally praised.

Then the actual Lickilicky comes, throws all that away, and makes him a cute and safe mascot.

It is objectively more bizarre than final Lickilicky and having a long tongue hanging open out of an agape mouth is more unpleasant than final Lickilicky making that cutesy "sticking tongue out while keeping its mouth closed" that you typically see from characters that are designed to be cute.

It's weird that the designs share similar trends among themselves. Rounded heads. Comically over-exaggerated features. More organic-looking designs into more geometric ones. They look like they belong together more than with any of their prevolutions.
I agree Tangrowth is the least offensive. But with the GS beta design sitting in their archives...

I'm a big fan of all of these minus lickylicky if for no other reason than the tongue is less prominent. Magmortar is my favorite fire type for having a really nice cool/goofy balance. I agree that Rhydon felt complete but I'm a huge fan of Rhyperior's piledriver arms and had some cool tools at the time like Solid Rock and Megahorn. I get that Tangrowth just being 'more tangela' might be considered lazy but as someone with a backyard it hits close to home. Magnezone and Electevire are just good and you're out of your mind for saying they 'spit in the face' of incredible pokemon such as 3 magnets and spaghetti guy with shoes

Crossgens shouldn't be made unless it's only one, maybe two gens later. Further than that and the differences in art and design philosophy becomes too apparent and it looks bad even if the individual designs look fine.
Like, magneton is an interesting concept, and I like magnezone. It's so blaringly obvious they were not made as a set however.
On the other hand, hydrapple not only fits in to the applin line seamlessly but it's also by far the best of them.

More people do because they're no longer a shitty single or two stager (with a baby form in a few cases).
Your problem is you think the entire world holds Kanto to the same regard your afterbirth arse does. Not happening and never did, hnece why it's only spergy fuckers who probably don't wash themselves throwing tantrums about Game Freak making their children's games how they wish, instead of slavishly copying Anon's childhood.

Design-wise the Rhyhorn line would be better off with a baby pre-evo than a evolution for Rhydon. And I personally think Rhyperior is bad enough to abandon entirely. But since this is a Rhyperior redesign and not a new Rhydon evo:
Picrel is definitely lacking... something. But it's one of the better ones

Licki is just disapointing, but not that important. Same for Magnezone.
Rhyperior is fucking heinous though. Mechanics wise its fine by why does it have to look so fucking ugly.
