Actually, with an October release date it's probably gone gold recently. Physical copies would need the initial batch produced this/next month, put on boats mid/late August, arrive in ports and get processed late September/early October and trucked to major retailer distribution centers so it can get sent out to individual stores by mid October. It's possible they've switched to air shipments to avoid the ports after all the logistical mayhem of the past 5 years, in which case you can move the timeline up about 3 weeks and go gold late July, but even by air you'd want a safe buffer for a major launch given the cargo capacity and price difference of shipping by air vs sea.

Game Freak develops the game, Nintendo publishes, and the minimum lead times don't budge much when you're dealing with a simultaneous physical global release from a single point of manufacturing. The teraleak didn't do shit to their timeline, they had a PR person say "yeah, we got breached" in a fluff letter and the devs kept doing actual dev work. Whether there was a delay or not on the Switch 2 they simply would have kept working on the game until Nintendo said "we're going public on this day, so you can announce the switch 2 version after that and we can discuss the game's release window." A delay on the hardware would just mean the game is then ahead of schedule if they were meeting their development milestones on time up to that point. They wouldn't send anything off for finalization until they had a clearer idea of when it could release, instead they'd use that extra time for bug fixes and polishing or, if it was a lot of extra time, add more stuff they initially scrapped for time. All regions have the language select now so localization would already be done before the games go to print along with final asset implementation. I showed you real world industry numbers and an estimation of final production timelines based on the information publicly available. The game either already went gold or will in the next couple weeks to hit the release date while development shifts to patches, unless you actually think they've been sitting on their asses this whole time and the game's been finished for a year, which is not the case otherwise they'd have a lot more to show for it now if it was already perfect that long ago.
